But I can't align myself with the belief that an embryo, even those with a heart beat, has more rights than the mother. Then tell me then why isn't a sperm a "little human being"? I mean "why must we defend ourselves" Sometimes miracles happen and you don't kill the baby. I've heard of this happening many times. You shouldn't just assume the baby is going to die and kill it before the procedure takes place, or whatever you are doing to save the mother's life.

If I develop a malignant brain tumour, I would almost certainly die without treatment. So we CAN often anticipate the future. Therefore we can assume, in this hypothetical scenerio, that the mother will die during child birth. My question is would you let this birth continue knowing that she wont make it?

There are only two possible outcomes to this scenerio: either the mom dies and the baby lives, or the baby is aborted and the mom lives. If it was your wife, would you really put your trust in the slight possibility of a miracle - or would you want the pregnancy terminated as swiftly as possible?

No, you would treat the brain tumor, and at the same time, try to prvent the baby from dying. But if the baby dies in the process, it is unfortunate, but not murder.

Oh yeah, its good to disagree as well - it forces me into thinking about all these scenarios. My personal view is that we form our belief first and then try to justify it. But I do agree with a lot of what you say - e.g. education, contraception.

The main reason I don't believe in abortion is because I feel like God creates and should end lives. It is not up to humans. There is no more wrong or right, it seems. Everyone has the attitude to do what is right for ME. They are selfish.

I do wholeheartedly agree that people are selfish and frequently take the easier option. But if only God has the right to end life why do we intervene at all in Gods plan. Why do we have doctors and nurses. Surely we should let nature take its course and let the person die, as God intended.

There must be some scenerios in which we have the right to take a life. e.g. self defence. If the only alternative is to kill your attacker before he murders you then surely, in that circumstance, killing him is a perfectly justified course of action. After one of you is going to die and since you are the innocent victim and the attackr is in the wrong, it may as well be him.

I saw Gianna Jessen on TV a few weeks ago, she was "born" on April 6, 1977 at 7 1/2 months old. She is a survivor of an instillation abortion. Death is a part of life....we all die and it's not that big a deal....unborn babies won't be missed by anyone....the real problem is with all the crazy religious fanatics that are trying to get control of our country and our gov't and push their god/jesus on the rest of us....if you really want to do good....help all the children that have already been born...help their single moms, who go through hell each day trying to provide for these kids. It cost $200,000 to raise a kid...YIKES!
