I heard this song for the 1st time shortly before 9/11 then the on 9/12 I was on my way to my National Guard base not knowing what was going to happen, the sun was rising at 4:30am. Life took on a new meaning that day. We will never forget.
@aswordsofthemist It'd have more if it wasn't a fucking Vevo Cooperation video that just slows down RAM cause of all the ads it has to load. Remember the good old days when the people ran YouTube, and not the cooperations?
John THIS is why we wanted you to become Senator of Indiana, I was part of that movement with my friend Jep (well Jep started it). You talk real talk, real America, not the big moneyed interests. I'm in Wisconsin and have been blasting this since the assault on working people (I'm an RN) in favor of Corporations. Middle and lower working classes unite (not much middle left) they HAVE to listen then!
Great song, and a reminder to me (aside from being a great song writer) why I've always appreciated Mellencamp. I've always liked his all American "cornyness", yet his obvious open-mindedness. He was way ahead of his time with the Cherrybomb video. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I like that he's a countryboy, but not a redneck and a racist. In fact, if your familiar with most of his music you probably realize that he's what most redneck racists call a "Liberal".
Sure wish more people would express themselves like he does. John reminds me of Woodie Guthry, he has a handle on real life. So many of us just settle for what is shoved down our throats by the political machine and accept it as true representation.
THIS CAME OUT RIGHT ABOUT THE TIME THAT BUSH KILLED 3000 CITIZENS ON 9/11..THINK OF WHAT IT THEORIZES...GREAT FUCKING SONG...WHY BE POLITICALLY CORRECT..AND WHAT IS POLITICALLY CORRECT????
Official song of our veterans alumni assn dot org, bohemian r vets arts ..thank you all...this song helps us heal from our unseen wounds giving gracenotes..when words fail....music speaks. Anon vets
@baxterfat People do over use the word, but to say it doesn't exist or imply that anyone who uses it hasn't a lick of common sense is by itself non-sense. Racism does exist but its very nature is larger than one person, bigotry, prejudice and stereotypes are the work of individuals. Racism is institutional, it exists in laws and structures.
You are some what gorgeous, thanks a lot for your video. its unfortunate i'm located within Parowan simply because i can not get hold of decent makeup, however i receive 100 % free cosmetics samples from "GratisMakeupSamples". i really like Garnier make-up!
lovely techniques, thanks, anyone used Maybelline's most recent line of products?! it's hard to obtain makeup in Darrington but you can get some amazing cosmetic samples by checking out "Gratis-Makeup-Samples", there cool!
Real violence is in people’s hearts not between Governments, or ideologies... you’re out of race and those who’re sitting on big chairs wants you to lick their feet or there’s no help…no favor. Their lust for controlling others lives has crossed that line where it’s become necessary to break their Golden chairs, bring down their asses and kick is so hard that they would want to listen you or Mr. Artist you dream on
You actually are relatively pretty, thanks a lot for the movie. it's pathetic i'm located in Henderson considering that i aren't able to find quality cosmetics, then again i receive no cost cosmetic samples from "Gratis Makeup Samples". i absolutely adore L'Oreal cosmetics!
My mother introduced this song to me when I was about 7 years old. It's been a huge message in my life since- it holds such strong thoughts and ideas. I love it! Always will!
I love John Mellencamp<3!!! He's always been terrific!! Grew up listening to him and loved all of his music! I totally agree with his politics and hope he someday runs for the Senate, he'd have my vote!! A most definate win for us all!:)
One of my favorites. I don't agree with the political idiot part though. Seems like a no bullshit kind of guy to me, always has. A free spirit, generous and truly in love with his fellow people. We can't all be like that, much less musically gifted, I don't get why you'd want to bust his balls over the politics that he is immune to.. Dont misunderstand, I dont revere him as a god, he's just John with a guitar, get off his back.
This is such a great song-done by one of the few truly individual artists and thinkers that we have in this country. You may disagree with his thoughts but it is really clear that they are totally his. Nobody owns this man!! Gotta love that!!
You know when people talk about JM They never say what a strong great song writer he is. I bet I could quote 15 of his lyrics and most people would know who said it. From A Hoosier Living In Tennesse Take Care.
John labours under a serious delusion but his heart is sincere. I adore the sentiment of it all. He is, after all a tremendously accomplished musician, but the stark reality is that his political philosophy won't work unless EVERYBODY is on board with it. En toto ;-)
this is by far my favorite song "feel good" song of all time! thank i wish both john mellencamp & indie arie got more praise for such an inspiring & uplifting song. it is so rare that such two unique music artists like these two come together and make such beautiful music!
This song never fails to turn my day around :D
