  • you are one brave man

  • @bozaki87 Well I try.

  • that's a horrible way to die for comic book character nd for a gay man. that most hurt a lot having someone stick something in your crotch and have it come out your ass. I don't know what wud be painful that or anal sex lol.

  • Well that was interesting, might try to find it online some time,is it only 1 issue/comic? and no more storylines by that character? because my sister let me read a couple of comics from MARVEL,DC and Dark Horse,i was so lost in most of the stories and they all had some things at the bottom pointing out to some event that happened in another comic, kinda like they want you to read every comic ever made,so a comic book "beginner" like me get's confused quick.

  • @Shotgunryugan Well it was a couple issues, but just like 5 issues.

  • Never even heard of this character, but nice recap...and interesting point about the death and how it was drawn.

It's one thing for one person to draw it and maybe be oblivious to how that might appear, but it's not just one person working on these images...so I think it's very valid...and kinda fucked that it played out that way :/

  • Hey Paul I like how you compared to the suit to Tron. Do you think alot of the comic book costume designs took on this "line" type drawing to give the character more of a visual effect in shape. When color is added it tends to Trim the character and show Physic (sp?) As far as the art crotch stab, I also agree in that pic there is a ton of spikes didn't need that one. Also when MMA fighting its man code to not strike there. Many hate crimes towards gays have genital mutilation. Great review

  • I totaly agree with you wtf! such a horible way to die D:>

  • I haven't seen the issue in person but the angle doesn't look right. It looks like the big spike is aimed at his lower abdominal area. The spikes that in shadow look like other spikes that aren't going through his body. Again, I haven't seen it in person but that's what it looks like to me. If that is the case, hopefully it wasn't intentional on the part of the artist.

  • I think you should be a Super Hero

  • homophobe comic writers and artists....not supprised. the movie brokeback mountain ended really badly for the gay couple, its more like a tragedy. coincidence? mabey some media creators want to portray the gay lifestyle as having consequences. idk, thats just how i feel.

  • Is it possible that it was just an accident, the spike going through such an area? I understand that you just have fun with this but just it feels that you might be reading into it.

  • Lol "im not saying gay characters shouldn't die, THEY SHOULD DIE!.." lol maybe a poor choice of phrasing

  • I'm glad could see this review again. It's just annoying that they killed character with lot of potential in kind of stupid and bit offensive way.

  • ROBERT KIRKMAN!!!!

    Not KirkLAND.

  • @1985SocialClimber LOL! Whoa, dude chill. I said the name wrong by accident while I was talking. If you did vids you'd know that you sometimes say the wrong names or mispronounce stuff. No need to yell, life doesn't need to be so rough all the time over every little thing that happens. haha

  • @GayComicGeek Sorry I wasn't intending to yell! It just is sometimes a bother, it was an honest mistake in an otherwise great video!

  • so what happens to the ring? is there a cosmic cube powered ring out there just waiting to reappear or do they explain what happens to it? I would assume iron maniac would pick it up after he swiss cheesed him. also (though I can't recall any exact examples) I know I've seen quite a few crotch shots (usually done by women) throughout comics, with it all in shadow form though, idk, when i look, it doesn't really look like an angle of crotch to asshole, more likely just spikes hitting everywhere

  • What books/issues does freedom ring appear in so I can find them???

  • @werewolf7989 It's much easier to get the trade paper back which is vol. 4, but if you really want the issues, it's #19-25

  • @werewolf7989 It's much easier to get the trade paper back which is vol. 4, but if you really want the issues, it's no.19-25

  • Great video!

  • @ADVSProductions Thanks man!

  • Like the video but I see it as he might just have put the spike there because he wanted a lot of spikes and isn't it Robert kirkman it just sounds like your saying Kirkland but anyways keep up the videos

  • @1316Gamer Maybe he did it like that by accident, but that's really pushing it. And yeah it does sound like I'm saying it wrong. Oh well I can't change it now.

  • i loved the skrull that he befriends. probably one of my favorite marvel characters.

  • @itscreamsjessie1 Ehh he's ok I guess. He's not doing anything now though.

  • The character seems like a mistake to me. I'm glad his dead.

  • @kawaiifutanarishow Nah he was created to shock readers into seeing someone die pretty much.

  • The spike could be going through his hip.

  • @LeviathanVII Uhhh ok, we'll go with that but I'm pretty sure it's not.

  • Wow! You were really pissed, in your understated nice guy way. The ring could be used by somebody else to resurrect him. Maybe? :)

  • @onyxman8 Hmm, never thought of that. It could do anything, so that's an interesting theory.

  • Also!

One of the few characters in Marvel I remember suffering from a groin attack was Wolverine. There was no piercing involved, though. He got sucker punched by a brainwashed Puck from Alpha Flight.

That one scene was pretty funny, though. Wolverine had to explain between gasps that there wasn't any adamantium 'down there'.

  • @LongHairedCreepyGuy Oh wow, I don't even remember that. Good going.

  • @GayComicGeek Much as it pained me to see Wolverine get sucker punched in the man-junk, it was funny. It was only topped by one other Wolvie side-story called Beer Run, where during a poker game with Nick Fury, Cap America, and Electra, Wolverine goes out for more beer in Fury's car, and winds up having this whole big adventure trying to get his beer back.

Yes, in the Marvel Universe, Wolverine cannot even go out for beer without fighting the Hand, a dragon, and things blowing up

  • Nice hat!

That is a really lame thing to do. I don't mind character death, but the constant recycling of characters dying and coming back to life over and over again gets really old to me. It does feel like maybe that was a comment being made, and even if it wasn't, you are right in that there are a ton of editors that go through each panel. Plus, that's a pretty big panel. Nevertheless, this was an awesome video, as always.

  • Lmao this whole thing is really messed up when was this even made?

  • @ItsDennyBaby It was done back in 2006

  • Awesome video and equally awesome hat.

  • @epicnerd1 hehe thanks!

  • your perceptive I don't think I would've noticed that if I had been reading it

  • @paganism2009 Oh cool, well I'm glad i could point it out.

  • good video! thanks for the heads up on whats happening important in comics books.

  • @kairus1 Awesome, thanks man!

  • All of that happened in one comic book? I wouldn't read it. I'm offended by the way he died. I wonder whether any straight characters have ever had their groin and ass attacked in a similar manner. I likely don't follow comics as closely as you do (although I'm a comic book fan). Do you recall something remotely similar happening to a straight hero in Marvel or DC or has the straight man's penis been treated as sacrosanct? Seems that Cap has been hit everywhere except there.

  • @Matthewgreen7779311 Well it was one storyline that encompasses 3-5 comics. But yeah, his whole story can be told in that one trade paperback. I don't think any mainstream comic character has had his crotch pierced like that. I'm gonna do some research now and try and find out. It does suck and it does piss me off that the artist would draw that. It's completely unnecessary.

  • Loved the whole Marvel TeamUp series, and also loved Freedom Ring...

Are you planning on doing a Freedom Ring costume as well?

  • @PhoenixPlaneswalker Haha no I wasn't planning on doing a costume but if he's ever resurrected, I'll think about it.
