  • My Dad shared diggs with Christy in Dublin in the late 1960's when they both worked for Bank Of Ireland on Baggot Street. Coincidentally Christy's first banking job was in Ballyhaunis where his manager was my Grandfather. Anyway Christy decided to pursue music full time when the bank officials went on prolonged strikes....The rest as they say is history

  • Christy

    What can I say

If you love live acoustic You love christy

If you ever has a pint (er two) you love this song

It's where we all could be if times were bad

    A dark subject beautifully portrayed

    Genius

  • @Shadowcrow4 Mate the troubles have ended. There are still factions of communities who are causing trouble, but N.Ireland/ Ireland is no more dangerous than any other Western Civilization. So come visit!

  • @ThisIsRGE i know, the electric just sounds amazing in this song, hon Decky!

  • The song is about Irish guys that flocked to London during the famine. He mentions Piccadilly in the chorus. ;) (Piccadilly Circus)

  • Not during the famine but 1986 !

  • Saw him in New York in 1997 at the Fleadh on Randalls Island. He really hasn't come to America since. I will have to see him in Ireland now.

  • The proof is round London in the nobody zone and under charring cross bridge

Think it's about England and London in particular but I suppose it works for all countries with the Irish there.

  • Okay works for me. At least you didn't pull out the Plastic Patty bullshit. I still dig this song.

  • so tru , im only home after a week in liverpool . . . . .i was singin dis song all week . . . . god the english are dirty pig ignorant people . . . . .

  • @jasonmathias The verse is Dm G Am, and the chorus is F C G Dm F C Am, the second half of the chorus he switches the Am for a G.

  • @wasabiP

Thank you . I got that. I was trying to see the strumming pattern, put it helps to just start playing it and then the music comes alive in the hands. :)

  • @jasonmathias Yeah, this is a real great tune and once you're playing it sounds magical so yeah. I've got my own version @Joandhuhu which is my music channel. check that out if you're bored :D

  • @jasonmathias what?? 36 million? how is that possible? the population of Ireland itself is like 4 million!

  • @oleh2007 He said 36 million Irish descendent's in America.

  • @oleh2007 Because the Irish make up a large portion of the USA. We have been migrating to the home of the Brave for 200+ years dude. USA is more Irish then Ireland is Irish. No we are not Plastic Patties, We are Irish-Americans. Such a large number because of the genocide and raping of Ireland at hands of the English. But the Americans kicked the Brits ass 2 times and out of this continent. Plus that number is off, the census will show an even larger number when it is released next year.

  • @jasonmathias kicked the Brits "out of this continent"?? I believe they kept Canada. And as a Canadian, may I point out the war of 1812?

  • @RyanPM89 True Canada was subject to the crown cause your forefathers are yellow bellied loyalist scum. Remember that the reason Canada has it sooo nice is cause the might of the USA. Otherwise it would have been taken over. You can thank the Irish-Americans for building this country up.I have been to Canada and it craptasticlly lame. Just a bunch of confused socialist trying to be like Americans.

  • @oleh2007 They had children

  • @oleh2007 Maybe ya never heard of the Great(not so f'kin' great actually!)POTATO FAMINE in Ireland :do U know how many millionsdied???!!!!!So whoever the fuck could wangle their way onto a ship for the 'Americays' -well obviously did so - seeing as the Pommie Bastards wanted nothing to do w. the crisis of the 'TRUE' EIRE-ish....only their protestant 'subjects' of H.M. 'Mother 'End'-Gland'.....The Potato 'Blight' was akin to a modern day GermWarfare genocide.....Creashonrebel@yahoo.com

  • @jasonmathias It's not about the Irish in America, I can hear what he is talking about, but I miss understood the meaning of the song and thought that the traveling over the ocean and a few other lines where about the crap the Irish had to deal with here in the States for decades. But since Kennedy all of our presidents have been Irish Americans. So the Irish are making waves in the world now and in control of the most power force in the world. USA.

  • @jasonmathias what americans did with that 'power' was kill the natives, enslave the blacks, burn how many women as 'witches,' then finally use their power for good in ww1 and 2, & lately, kill how many iraqis & afghans. I wish we'd use the 'power' to build better schools, railroads, clean energy, help druggies instead of jail them, etc.

  • Somebody call the wham-bulance this bed wetting leftist d-bag is having a break down. Look dude nobody gives a shit about witches. Anyways this song kicks ass.

  • great song....this is the case for so many irish over in london..!!

  • fukin great song

  • helluva voice
