Podles and Devia go quite well together~. Podles ah quel giorno is brilliant as always. So many great new full length posts, I think we're all in heaven now~ ^_^.
I personally consider this version much better than June Anderson's Met version. Great job from Devia who successfully expressed Sermiramide's ambition. Also great job from Podles.
... La Podles is just spetacular here... the tone is a bit "windy", but I rather like it, it makes her instantly recognizable... and everything else is so incredibly solid: wonderful phrasing, rhytmic precision, smooth blending of registers, great control of dynamics... and her way with the recitatives is so elegant and secure. BRAVA!
the great eugenia mantelli (she can also be found on youtube) albeit with a different voice type and training also made rossini's music her own.
