Had Chaps Pitt Beef for the first time, EVER this past weekend, and I will say this, Pennsylvania LOVES Chaps Pitt Beef! My brother who lives in Baltimore was pimping this for a little while now and this food is as simple as simple can get, it tastes elegant, and the smell is out of this freaking world! Best beef sandwich I have had in my LIFE to this point. HANDS DOWN!!!!!! Not only that, but the people behind the counter are class A personalities! VERY good experience here!!!!!!!!!

just to revamp the night club quote by the owners of chaps. Chaps night club sat on the same lot as chaps pit beef. back in the 80's it was a popular club to go. in the 90's chaps was closed i believe when the owner retired and the 80's type club wasnt in no more. a year or 2 went by and gentleman's gold club leased the building. on the one side was a strip club. on the other was a mexican night club. the mexican niteclub left in the late 90's and the goldclub renovated the entire building.

Went to Chaps after the Orioles game sunday to lick our wounds (17 - 3 loss in xtra innings). My boy got to run the bases afterwards; he loved it. He had a 1/4 beef hotdog and crushed it in like 5 min (he's 4). I had a rare beef and we shared a fry. I was disapointed the horseradish did not make me beg for mercy, but it was still good. I even took a rare beef home for later. this was my 2nd trip there since my buddy in highschool used to work there. great food. fresh horseradish please!

Guy did an episode there too. My dad used to tell me about this place on eastern ave when he was a kid that had the best coney dogs, and how he could still smell them; I am taking him there next week as a surprise. He doesn't know they are still there, and was too young to remember where it was exactly.

My fiance' and I just went there today...driving from Northern VA to BMore to get it. It is one of the best food experiences I have ever had. I had the pit beef and sausage...no food should ever be that good. The french fries were fantastic too. I can't wait to go back. It was worth the 60 mile drive.

I live in Baltimore and never heard of this place before, so I mapquested it. I was shocked to see it in the parking lot of a strip club but the 1 1/2 in cheeseburger I had made it all better. My friends and I go once a month and we're not allowed to get the same thing twice. The pulled pork sandwich is fantabulous.

In the owners defence, When they opened the pit beef stand the club was called "Chaps" also but is was a regular night club, it even had a teen night.

It changed had a few times before becoming the "Gold Club" I even remember it being a latin club called "The House of Latino Fire" for some time.

The best pit beef on the west side is Andy Nelsons. The best on the east is Chaps. I visit both once a week. Best ambiance for pit beef, the bulldog sandwich is the bomb. Add the jalepenos to it!!! Best french fries on the planet. Congrats Chaps (do I get a free sandwich?) ha! Look for the funny sign above the City Paper rack inside. I smile every time I read it. So Baltimore.

Their pit beef is good, but if you want the best and you're willing to cross the county line, try Andy Nelson's Southern Pit Barbecue out on York Road in northern Baltimore County. They have some pretty good pit beef and simply the best ribs on the Eastern seaboard. Shorty's Pit Beef on Falls Road is pretty good too.
