When determining how good someone is, something I strongly consider is the player's technical ability. I also look at that person's ego. Travis Barker's ego is SO MUCH higher than his technical ability, it's scary. There's a reason guys like him aren't attending the Modern Drummer Festival and guys like Mike Mangini, Virgil Donati, Thomas Lang, Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, and Akira Jimbo are. Just saying... If his drums didn't spin, nobody would like him.
Travis is a great drummer, really talented, but he's in no way a drum god. And arguing about who's best is a waste a time, Travis isn't trying to make himself the god of drums, it's his fans who do that. Blink-182 has always had a special place in my heart and I enjoy his fun drumming, but his fans make him overrated.

Sure, he might be alright. He's kind of fast. But all the stuff he plays is relatively simple. There's a reason drummers like to bash him: he's much too overrated.
Look up Tomas Haake, Danny Carey, Mike Portnoy, or Thomas Pridgen, THEN tell us what you think ;)

@lazyguy1393 again im just coming from a natural standpoint as in it sounds and looks like tight work but i know how that can be when people are impressed by an act or feat simply because they don't do it when really the person doing the act is average. and as i watch this agian as i type, it does seem basic. but i will definately check those guys out.

@rgooske man, i think you're just an ignorant asshole, travis barker is actually considered one of the drumming revelations of the last 10 years (even Roger Taylor from Queen estimates him) he's not just a punk drummer he was inspired by Buddy Rich Stewart Copeland and John Bohnamand he can merge these 3 different styles into a kick ass drumming and won at least three awards for "Best First-Sight Reading" for Modern Drummer.... i really would like to see you play better than him...

ALRIGHT. i am over all this shit about travis being the best and not being the best. its pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to find out who the best is ever because theres so many different styles and techniques. OF COURSE there are better drummers out there but he was in THE most famous band in the 90's which makes him well known for being an awesome dummer so all of the thomas lang fans need to CHILL OUT. so yes there are better dummers, but travis is still an amazing one.
