This kind of technology would be PERFECT on a tablet PC. As the most popular one is the iPad, it's a real pity that the technology is owned by Microsoft.
It was a 3 years ago, the project name changed to Pivot, and it's still experimental, I hope my grand children will see its 1st beta, and my grand grand grand children even might get lucky enough to use it for their own pictures on a home pc.
If we all get lucky some one will open a start up to make a competition on that project that a year after will sell it to Google and then we all will use it instead of watching another beta version.
It's a shame shame how a good project can get barried...
Imagine knowing the layout of (assuming) the entire building your swat team is planning on invading!? WIth enough power, memory, and money...constantly-changing environments could be recorded by billions of cameras and any location mapped out for...who ever...to see! Shoot you might even be able to follow/stalk a person if desired!!
3 programs HA! U can get ever windows program if you install bootcamp because microsoft let apple install windows on their computers either way they are still getting more money.
Windows media player,WMM,I.E,microsft word,Powerpoint etc.. apple doesn't let windows users have ilife, cut time pro, they don't even let their OS run on PC!

this is just microsoft copying other companies ideas again....this is the same as Apple Aperutre and Adobe Lightroom, except that both of those programs can also edit photos as well as do exactly what this video shows in terms of detail viewing of multiple images....Microsoft = lame and years behind AGAIN.
i don't think you get it...just watch at when this project started...maybe you'll find something interesting and that it doesn't have copied any idea...also try to open a 36 megapixel or 50 megapixel image in Aperture or lightroom...!!this make the difference!!...you are right, sometimes microsoft lame...but hey...also apple did so: linux=server, apple=photographic, microsoft=gaming

Apple is a computer company that builds their own software. Microsoft is a software company, pure and simple.
The only software MS has actually released for MacOS X is Internet Explorer and MS Office.
None of this is an issue of openness. MS finds a market in the Mac that can be profitably exploited and vice versa. It's all about making money.

Apple = Users without a clue.
Do your research on Time Machine, Expose', The Dock, Wigits, etc.
Every "Innovative" technology from Apple has been done before, almost always by the Open Source community.
