因為林夕自己取這個筆名，是將簡體字的夢字拆開來為名。

林夕本人曾經在志雲飯局解釋過，他的筆名的林取自他最敬佩的填詞­人林振強先生，而夕字則是他在想筆名的時候翻看當時期在重看第N­遍的石頭記【紅樓夢】取靈感，結果無意中看到這個夕字，覺得意境­很美，於是便把筆名取為林夕。以上，謝謝！
