  • How much pressure/force can the solenoid put on the pin? I ask because the possibilities for a remote solenoid are endless - not the least being used in a Rube Goldberg machine - pushing bowling balls, etc. Any suggestions for building one capable of exerting 5-10 pounds per square inch of force?

  • Thanks - of note the AC pull solenoid used has a nice linear power curve to the stroke length. Where DC solenoids are strongest at the shorter end of the stroke. Also your AC solenoid shows good speed. People do not realize how useful and economical these are for projects beyond door locks....

  • sale it to jigsaw

  • way cool.

  • cool, but one problem.

X-10 automation systems are very easy to hack. :P

  • i would recomend hooking up a deep cycle battery to it incase of power failure .

  • maybe u can propose it to te american iventor :P

  • You can open almost anything with a crowbar.

  • first

  • what happens when the remote is lost.Ah fuck.

  • just lightly kick the door im sure tht piece of wood the lock is attached to will just come right off.

  • so... what happens if there's a power outage?

  • lmao...nice

  • if there is no power the lock stays closed, it needs power to open

  • ware did u buy that

  • nice idea, but it looks like it needs some work

(ie. having to adjust the door to get the lock to slide home)

  • Whats wrong with the old fashioned slidey one? Sorry, but for me a waste of time and money, although quite masterful.

  • you can break into the slidey one with your dick.

  • funny one there.. a sliding deadbolt would do exactly the same job as a solenoid one, except this is a lazy way.

  • What if you are in the shed or whatever and the power goes out or your remote dies? I guess you could probably manually override it.

  • you are

  • what type of solenoid is it?

  • i want to build one of these (i will be using a keypad and a computer, no remote) for my new apartment, what solenoid parts are you using for this? I can find all the other parts etc, but I'm trying to avoid spending an arm and a leg on the solenoid.

  • what you do in blackout case? no electric light no selenoid work ...

  • cool im going to have to make one now

  • cool i think

  • sweet

  • nice
