  • OK PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME! I bought my first bike 03 r6 (video on my channel) but I live in Wisconsin it's about 20-30 degree out right now, the bike is in my non heated garage covered with blankets, I try to start it every day and let it run for a bit, but I had the same problem in this video. I'm very worried something is going to get ruined by spring, can anyone help me out? Besides suggesting I put it in heated storage because I can't.

  • Ever heard of a choke? haha turn it up or your idle

  • Have you fixed the problem, i have the same but with an suzuki sv 650s '99

  • Problem? thats my daily experience with my aprilia rs 125 when its cold :D Good luck with fixing it tho, great bike!

  • you should change battery on your R6 and your problems will disappear.

    P.S. Hi from Russia ))))

  • Comment removed

  • you listen to music while riding?

  • @21scuderia Who doesn't?

  • Is it your battery? your headlights dim down when u give it gas.

  • Do you not have a choke on it just wondering i have heard that it may not be good for the bike to use the choke often but i was curious?

  • @killabeast1997 nah, fuel injection

  • @YZ125Broski Oh ok

  • Chase, did you ever fix your problem? If so, what was wrong and how did ya fix it? Im having the same problem with mine (check out my video). Thx.

  • use the choke!

  • Tuneup man. Change the spark plug, oil + filter, new air filter or clean existing one if you have reusable. And your bike will always run a little hotter when standing still. Good luck, hope there is nothing wrong with the bike!

  • fahr die doch warm, dann haste solche probleme nicht!

  • could be a coil issue my gixxer had similar problem but when warm and it was my coils

  • Try adjusting your idle... idle should be around 1250 rpm give or take... you should be checking it everytime you ride... plus the moisture will bog down your engine... even more of a reason to adjust

  • "Old" bikes aren't to bad I guess... My Hornet k2 still has a choke so I can fap with both hand while it warms up... Still "she" never sleeps out so I don't really need it!

  • how did u took off the baffle ?

  • Hey how did you do your intro and outro

  • your breathing makes you seem fat. Are you?

  • The bike is a 2006 btw.

  • Was there a fix for your problem?

I have the exact problem on my stock 4500 mile R6. It has a brand new battery but it still fails to start the second time I go to start it. The first time it starts right away. The engine cranks great every time.

  • if u didn't fix the problem it might be the air filter being dirty... do u have any engine work done to the motor because if so u might to need to remap the bike. just get a power commander.. good luck lover your videos...

  • so ur my new ds83

  • how old do you have to be to get a motorcycle license? im turning 16 in april and this is one of my fav bikes. i live in pa

  • @TSupraLano As far as I am aware you have to have a drivers license in order to get a motorcycle endorsement on it. So you should only have to be 16 in order to get the original license. Although you could always get a 50cc scooter and to hell with the license thing...just a thought.

  • @chasein3d you dont need a license... just a permit

  • @TSupraLano you have to be 18 man

  • @epicsk8r : (

  • @TSupraLano

    16. Getting a motorcycle permit without a class C license is the same as getting a Class C permit. Take the permit test(computer test); 6 months/MSF, then license. PLEASE, do NOT get a 600+ cc bike as your first one(except a Ninja 650 or SV650). If you get your Class C license, you still need to get a motorcycle permit, then, after a week, you can go for license or take the MSF.

  • @MoAoX dont worry im going to get a 1000cc lol. i believe what ever bike you want to get it! just dont drive like a dummy! im leaning toward the r6. thanks for the info!

  • @TSupraLano

It's not about being a "dummy". It's about you getting EXPERIENCE. Sportsbikes are very unforgiving. For the record, at 16, you're not mature enough to handle that power(not an insult). I'm trying to have you be safer. You will have more fun on a smaller CC bike at the beginning, because you will be able to handle it much better. Just look into an SV650 or a Ninja 650, they're much better for beginners, and they're no slouches. Plus an r6 will cost you a whole lot for insurance.

  • @MoAoX yea i get what your saying but i will have to look into a less powerful bike then to the big boys. lol

  • @TSupraLano

Look into Ninja 650s or SV650s, they're great bikes, renowned for their user-friendliness and performance. you won't get bored of one for quite a few years, if ever. They're both awesome bikes, and their insurance will be reasonable. Even Ninja 500s and GS500s are great starter bikes. Be smart, and do your research, buddy! Stay safe!

  • @TSupraLano I got a bike when I was 15, but i only had a motorcycle permit. I could ride 6 to 6 or 6 to 8 in the winter. I got my restricted recently and then got my full motorcycle license. don't take any ADVANCED motorcycle classes untill you get your restricted. they would only give me a full motorcycle license after i got a restricted car license.

Also don't listen to anyone who says to get a ninja 650 or 250. Get the bike you absolutely love. An r6 will not overpower you if you drive safe.

  • @TSupraLano P.S. I am VERY close to your age

  • @Marksman2oo7 Exactly r6 here i come! Why would i want a motorcycle that barley hits 100 mph lol no disrespect MoAoX. P.s so you have to be 16 to get a motorcycle license?

  • @TSupraLano where I'm from you can get a motorcycle permit(you can drive from 6 to 6) at 15, you add it to your car permit. after 6 months of having a car permit you can get a car restricted license. Only until you get the restricted can they add the FULL motorcycle license to your car license.

i myself was driving my bike six months before my sixteenth birthday.

  • @TSupraLano you needa be 18

  • so was it just an idle problem that needed adjusting or was it something else?

  • def sounds like it could be spark plugs. esp since u said u have 20,000+ miles i think. and if they have never been changed then that could be the problem. other than that i really don't have any ideas : /

  • Take it inside your house.

  • haha deadmau5... nice choice in tunes!

  • How many miles on it? Check spk plugs. Check to see if your thrtle body needs to be sync. Yamahas are well known to be tuned very lean from the factory so if throttle body sync is off that could cause the bike to shut down esp during cold starts. I had this same prob with my R1 and after i sync it, it started and idle fine.

  • EFI, could be a few things wrong with it, hard to tell from a video

  • Wow hush! what year is this bike?

  • efi

  • it would be an EFI error as it is not giving the bike enough fuel for the bike to stay running... the cold is not mean to effect it so you will probable need a new one

  • That starting problem's a real pain in the ass, hope my bike never does that after I move and no longer/probably wont have a garage.

  • @masterboo2907 Its an EFI bike, no choke. Choke is only for carb bikes.

  • Its probably a solenoid problem, IMHO. There should be a vacuum line going to a solenoid that'll up the idle to until the bike is warmed up. If the vacuum line is pinched, that'd cause the same problem.

  • I hope that you have a highly talented and trusted mechanic. it could be a half dozen things.

  • Deadmau5 for the win!

  • try puttin the choke on

  • Wow guys, its awesome that so many of you have taken your time out to try and help me with this. Iv decided that I am going to just take it too a dealer whenever I am financially able and get them to look at it/fix it. I do like doing my own work on the bike but this seems potentially out of my league. Not to mention I dont have much free time to sit and figure out the problem. Thanks again for all the comments!

  • It's electrical and not the battery. Seems like could be a bad solenoid or computer and FI may need checked out. IMHO looks like you need to visit a dealer. When is the last time you checked for loose wires, checked your air filter etc?

  • where did you get your keychain?

  • this doesnt have anything to do with the vid. but does ur visor since u have the color does it make it hard for you to see when u ride at night?

  • Put hotter plugs in it

  • Well the thing is bikes have smaller battery than cars, and even cars can get out of battery if you don't drive them constantly especially at colder days when temperature falls to 0°C or lower. Thing is that you should try to find shelter for your bike or garage.. if that's not available to you, just try to cover it with something, it will keep few celsius. If your bike is outside at very low temperature and you don't drive long distance like 40miles plus, your battery will lose capacity.

  • Try disconnecting your hologram bike lock.

    :p

  • Thats how my ninja 250 is :(

  • Buy a ninja 250?

  • 1:10 deadmau5!!

  • jejeje simple fix... but buy a ninja.... long life....

  • Mine starts ok but, sometimes wants to stall when I start rolling in first...U have that problem?

  • my bike did a similar thing and it was because i ran fuel too low and it sucked crap from tank into fuel line(? might be a different place) but yeah sounds similar

  • adjust idle?

  • No idea on the bad start up but you can alway try to clean out the fuel system by adding a fuel system cleaner. Can't really hurt to try and it's not expensive...

  • you just put in bad fuel or your injectors are kindof clogged. Also adjust your idle to 1600 revs and you wont have the problems

  • It's your fuel man, you got a nasty hole, j/k lol... Sounds like you need to adjust your fast idle cable so when you start it revs at a higher rpm before dropping to the set 1,300 rpm....follow the procedure in your service manual (download online for free of course!).

  • deadmau5... good music to ride to. good music to drive to.. *thumbsup*

--oh, and about your visor fogging up... be glad you don't have glasses.. that's all imma say.

  • Your dubstep beast are cool ;)

  • Buy a NINJA! lol

  • p.s. my bike literally did the same shit new battery is required around every 2 seasons you can go alittle longer if you have a battery tender. theyre cheap

  • these bikes dont run worth shit without a fully charged battery. that my friend IS your problem. your welcome :)

  • yeah you need a battery tender. the regulator (alternator/generator) doesnt actually charge the battery until about 3-4k rpm. which explains why you have to keep it reved until the battery is charged enough to run properly

  • BATTERY

  • ...=) i just did a video about@7:17

  • how many miles does the bike have , have you checked your valve clearances when valves get too tight it will make for hard starts , thats assuming your FI system is working as it shuould?

  • spark plug?

  • How many miles? 2 of my friends have 07 R6's and have had the exact same problems. After getting a full tune-up... problem solved. One has about 27k miles, the other has around 30k miles.

  • It might be the flux capacitor jk, yeah it might be ur choke.

  • it your choke bro

  • @unreal44 It's fuel injected. There is no choke....

  • @jkampmeier any bike or car with carb or injected has got a choke how would it start without more air in went the engine is cold ? sorry mate you are wrong if you think i talking sh+t take it to bike shop or by a book on your bike . hope you sort it out soon as it get colder it will get bad and then you will be late for work as the bike will not start anymore and your battery will be dead take care bro

  • @unreal44 You apparently don't know what a choke does. It does not provide additional air... it provides additional fuel. In fuel injected engines, the 'choke' is electronically controlled. Most of the bikes do have an idle adjuster, which may help... but this isn't an 'adjust your choke' issue. The bike is running rough and needs a tune-up. This is actually a really common problem for R6's...

  • @jkampmeier ok mate that what you say take it for tune-up and we see take care

  • i like the mirrors, can u get me a link on where to get a pair of these!?

  • Ok the bike is just really pissed off at u because u left it out in the cold without a blanket. Next time just wrap it up nice and tight and read it a bed time story.

  • Is it stock pipe?

  • majority of bikes that are fuel injected, have an auto choke. that could be your issue is that its not working as it should or not atall. my friend has a 99 r6 deltabox that i helped him work on that was carbed but it seems the r6's have a big issue starting or staying running sometimes. i love yamaha but damn from experience idk if id get one.

  • automatic or manual chock?

  • is that stock exhaust?

  • This is the problem with bikes. They are fuel injected but there idle and fuel mixture isn't regulated like cars are. Bikes aren't "as smart".

  • not tempting to filter there? ;)

  • @BecomeThem he did, thats why the vid ended :P

  • Ow :( Something isn't flowing right. Reminds me of a similar problem my VFR gave me, but it wasn't as bad. Hope you can figure that out, must be really annoying.

  • Not sure how different the newer ones are. I usually have to adjust my idle twice a year. Once when for warm weather and once for cold rainy weather. Issue looks similar to what I encounter. But when I had everything stock I didn't have that problem.

  • My bike did the same. I have an 08 gsxr 600. What the computers were telling me was that it was the Idle Control Valve Sensor. Idk much about the R6 but it would be something to look at. But I changed it on my bike and it stopped.

  • ok, could be a number of things, from needing a service to just crap fuel, the idle should be around 2,000RPM on cold starts and 1,300RPM at idle once she's warm, something is telling me though that your Regulator ($100) is up the crap because in ya other video she stalled for no reason when you were slowing down for the lights, i'd recommend getting a fuel filter in her even if you are getting good fuel in it aswell $5

  • Weak plug?

  • Temperature going down after you start moving.. Cold air flowing over the radiator and lowering the coolant temperature. As for why it's dying in the cold when you start it, I have no idea. You could try a bit of fuel stabilizer to fight the condensation, I dunno. Whoever said choke, that bike has EFI.. No choke.

  • if im not wrong you have injection on it and the "choke"part is electric,so the problem is your feeler is prob defect .usely on cars its a component u can change or over ride with a circuit but im not into where its on your bike. the easy part is to spay wd 40 on ignition cables and such to get moist off quicly

  • Screw that for a game of soldiers. Looks like she's needs a service.

  • @OoxTruExoO BTW, did you say you're holding it to rev to 1.5 rpm? My choke on full brings it to about 3.5, but usually I half-choke it to about 2, just to warm her up. Something isn't right there that it doesn't rev it high enough to keep her working.

  • could be anything from the temp sensor not idling the bike high enough, water i the gas, not getting enough gas when its cold again temp sensor [ my friends truck had that issue]

Was this an issue when the temperature was consistently warmer?

  • looks like you need a good old choke

  • I saw you wiping water off the seat, those damp mornings you may be getting water condensation into the fuel mixture. That will make it run/start like crap. Run a bit of water remover through it.

  • I believe you might have a fuel map problem and a power commander/juice box ect. should fix the problem.

  • Has it been damp? May be a little condensation in the fuel lines.

  • Had the same issue with my 06 R6 last week. Not as bad as this though, but it turned out I was starting it up to much without actually riding it, so the battery was dieing. Took it for a 3 hour + ride, so the battery charges and now it starts back up like a charm :)

Also, try to put your highbeams on when riding, not when starting. Those actually suck a lot of battery power when starting it up.

So yeah, either your idle is too low or your battery is dieing imo.

    +1 for Deadmau5.

  • take it to a yamaha dealer get them to tune it

  • Are you using choke? If you are you might want to check your carb/fuel injection adjustements.

  • damn dude, that would make me loose my mind!

  • the high beams actually decrease your rpm's a little, so you might want to turn it off, I know its not by far the solution to you problem heh, but it might help (I'm a newbie rider so, wont be much help but I'm trying xD)

  • i think you bought a bad r6 all my friends with the Yamaha's have no problems

but that's a really bad problem you have there.
