Any time that you would want to use blast shield (drop zone) there's gonna be more than one explosive coming at you, 2 frags will take out a blast shield guy, I miss taking like 3 grenades with flak jacket

For about 90% of all loadouts in normal matches (non-hardcore, etc.) the BEST perk to use is Assassin with Pro unlocked

Why the heck would you not use it?

It makes you invisible to every person on the ground in every single way unless you are tagged, and the pro gives you complete resistance from C-UAV and EMP (I think EMP was overkill)

Assassin Pro beats the poop out of every single other perk

You can still survive a bouncing betty while crouching over without Blast Shield, so nothing special there... Blast Shield has got to be the most useless perk in MW3 given they reduced the effectiveness of explosives so drastically and its pro variant is inferior to tactical mask pro from Blops which is even more of a let down. Only reason I can ever see using this is if you wanted to lessen the damage from dead man's hand, which may prevent your death. Test DMH vs BS!!

The flash test was a fail. The 2 flashes were not even close to positioned the same in relation to your character. Not to mention they have a hugely reduced effect if they go off behind you.

Your in-game showing of the flash/stun is inconsistent. Sometimes they land behind you. When you aren't looking directly at flashes, they don't hurt your vision as much. Watch the video again before you flame me.

you can survive being stuck by a semtex, which is very handy when using a riot shield because frags and tacticals can just be blocked by your riot shield, and blast shield means you can survive a semtex, allowing you to survive that little bit longer to maybe capture a flag or something

A 45% damage reduction does not mean you'll be saved 45% of the time. If an explosive does 200 damage, it's still going to kill you even with the damage reduction, making it completely useless. Also if you were able to react a bouncing betty, you could have just gone prone without Blast Shield.

Blast Shield is a terrible perk. Flak Jacket gave you a 65% damage reduction and the difference is very noticeable.

@Culiccidae if you can get blast shield pro, you are immune to fash and stun grenades. If you use this in specialist, it can really help to survive longer and this also helps for getting MOABS.

@LegoAnimation2k11 It doesn't make you immune to flashes and stuns. It just decreases their effect time by half, which is better than nothing but it's still long enough to get you killed. True, it's useful with specialist, but I don't think it's good enough on its own, when it has to compete with Assassin, Hardline and Quickdraw.

@Culiccidae Thing is, frags don't do 200 damage. Go sit on the objective in Drop Zone both with and without Blast Shield and then get back to me with some results. When stuns and flashes are raining down paired with frags, the perk is a must. From a kill-whore's perspective however, Assassin or Quickdraw will obviously be the way to go as frags are so under-powered in this game, UAV spam is ridiculous, and one whoring kills would not be playing the objective anyways.

@lazor321 BO Flak Jacket was a cheap perk. When you can survive 2 RPG's, a Semtex and a few bullets to the chest simultaneously; it becomes OP. Plus it allowed you to survive most napalm and sometimes rolling thunders. Blast Shield gives you only 45% blast protection, not 95% for those exact reasons.
