Socializing/Nationalizing (w/o destroying liberty)anything is only possible when there is a HUGE supply (sustainable supply) and relatively small demand. So much so, that prices are very cheap(and hence can be payed for by tax money). Now it would have to be cheap to make aswell, so that it remains profitable for those that harvest the abundance.
