You should do these installs for cop cars. You could make lots of money doing this on the side for cop cars. It frees up a lot of room in the car for them, it also makes it to where there partner in the passenger seat can view it to and its not as crowded. Wonderful job. Please produce.

You can try, it will most likely work.. most electronic equipment has a built in voltage regulator, so even though its designed for 14 depending on the regulator may work from like 12-20vdc i really couldnt tell you for sure without taking apart your monitor and looking at the regulator they use...

Thank you for the information. Also my LCD screen wants 14 volts. is that oke with the battery ? cuz i saw many people using inverters to power their monitor.

I will do this exactly like you did, laptop in the back seat and monitor on the dash.

But my laptop charger gives 15V to the laptop. Can i just wire it up to my laptop ? thru a inverter on my 12V lighter ?

Wondering where you obtained the smart relay? I'm thinking of a similar project and in fact I have a great laptop with a dead LCD that I can use for it (Win7, 4GB RAM, 320HD, WIFI, Blue-tooth, etc). I do live in NYC and will consinder a smaller screen or in-dash screen. Over all, I think you did a great job, very need neat and without the complicatected job to build your own car pc.

I guess my only question is... WHY?? If the murano screen is too small then you may need to have your vision checked. And if its just for music... ever hear of ipod, Archos, sirius, or zune. (I prefer Archos myself)

This just looks like a complete waste of time and that monitor is totally ridiculous... imo.

the murano years are 2003-2007 and then starts again from 2009 with a new design

Amazing. I just bought a 05 Murano and I've been trying to find documentation on how to take the stereo apart. I have the base model Bose system without the color LCD so I'm not attached to it, but I've yet to find a good guide.
