@bldude2 whats even more impressive is that if you read the book it was apparently a weapon mounted on an earth freighter. In other words that 20,000 year old weapons was civilian grade XD. Wonder what their actual military tech was like.

@noob3243 The freighters are for carrying the medication which will free the slaves of there vitoc addiction. Vitoc is a highly addictive drug the ammarrians designed to keep there slaves,without it the slaves die a painful death. Read the book EVE The Empyrean Age for more details
i miss some of the ships graphics they got in empyrean age, ships were quiet a bit more shinny and sharp looking back then.

@tyu7911 In one chronicle it is revealed that it is Terran (Earth) Superweapon which was powered by isotope of isogen which is one of the middle-grade minerals in-game and was destroyed when Thukker Tribe scout incited rebellion on Rogue Drones (self-replivating man-made lifeform that gained free will) that had beeen enslaved to gather isogen which then destroyed the weapon and asteroid which was the isotopes source.
This caused a natural disaster that lead to Apochyrpha and created wormholes.

@Ci3lag0 From what I understand, from reading some of the chronicles, a 100ISK is a hell of a lot of money, so I guess that if you've got enough money, then you are certain to find enough people to help pilot your ship.
@Ci3lag0 Why? Adventure, who else gets to fly the stars without joining the military, or its the money :P In New Eden 20,000 isk is a very health retirment, and we make millions an hour. The cheap as chips shuttles are super expansive for the poor mortals, and most capsuleer has gone through atleast 300 by the time they reach 1 year :P
@Ci3lag0 that is the thing about the pod. the Gallente found out that its more effective to let one person have the complete contoll over the ship and the rest is automatic, than have 100 of people as crew.
@Herdatec actually it was the Jove who introduced pod-piloting to the rest of New Eden, the Gallente and Caldari got it first, probably minnies after them and the always ultra-conservative Amarr who recieved after everyone else got it^^

As far as I know all ships have crews. You could replace everything with robots, but it would be far more expensive and there would still have to be some people who oversee everything. A machine does not replace the ingeniousness of the human mind.
True, there is AI in EVE, but even the drone-loving Gallente aren't too keen on making independent intelligence after the teeny tiny rogue drone accident.
@ChrisVattic I have to change one thing: it were the Caldari and not the Gallente.
Nearly every NPC-ship has a crew. Thats true but all Player-Ships have not.
Secondly nothing is overtaken by an AI but the tracking of the guns. You just don't yell: 'Scotty energy!' you just think it and push the button in our mind. All those comlicated things to controll by our self is the reason why we have to train skills.

ill post this again cos theres still some confusion, The Amarr reverse enginered that weapon from either jove or terran artifacts, (its not clear wich and the difference is 'technically' negligable), The empress Jamyl sarum used it against the minmatarr and the gallente but each time she fired it it nearly killed her wich is ok cos one shot rapes evrything its near.
Players will never own this, and its really just part of the overall lore. The new dd device is similar but doesnt hit everyhting.
Ok I don't get it. I started playing this game but how do you make tons of money to get a good ship? Also, I never see lots of fights, where are the player factions and does someone keep track of results? Do they affect the game?
@Homecountry ooooohhhh, your too much in a WoW frame of mind, im not saying you play WoW nescessarily but eve a vastly different kettle of cheese to other mmo's. To make tons of money you need to find a trade, theres too many to list here so yr best joining a friendly player corp,try yr best not to get scammed tho, the game makers endorse that behaviour and to join the player faction war complete the tutorial and youl get a letter of recomendation to join the militia of the race yr playing as.

The fights are in lowsec and 0.0, they affect the game as in, every ship that is destroyed was buildt by some player, and therefore has to be replaced, and built by a player again.

This Abaddon is the ship of Jamyl Sarum, now Empress Jamyl I, which is equipped with an ancient Teran superweapon, IIRC it is called a "Nova Cannon".
She used it to destroy a large part of the Elder Fleet, which was bombarding Sarum Prime with insorum, the only known antidote to vitoc, from orbit, freeing millions of slaves (and in the process killing all non-slaves, muahahahaha)

@tyu7911 In one chronicle it is revealed that it is Terran (Earth) Superweapon which was powered by isotope of isogen which is one of the middle-grade minerals in-game and was destroyed when Thukker Tribe scout incited rebellion on Rogue Drones (self-replivating man-made lifeform that gained free will) that had beeen enslaved to gather isogen which then destroyed the weapon and asteroid which was the isotopes source.
This caused a natural disaster that lead to Apochyrpha and created wormholes.

@Ci3lag0 From what I understand, from reading some of the chronicles, a 100ISK is a hell of a lot of money, so I guess that if you've got enough money, then you are certain to find enough people to help pilot your ship.

@Ci3lag0 Why? Adventure, who else gets to fly the stars without joining the military, or its the money :P In New Eden 20,000 isk is a very health retirment, and we make millions an hour. The cheap as chips shuttles are super expansive for the poor mortals, and most capsuleer has gone through atleast 300 by the time they reach 1 year :P

@Ci3lag0 that is the thing about the pod. the Gallente found out that its more effective to let one person have the complete contoll over the ship and the rest is automatic, than have 100 of people as crew.

@Herdatec actually it was the Jove who introduced pod-piloting to the rest of New Eden, the Gallente and Caldari got it first, probably minnies after them and the always ultra-conservative Amarr who recieved after everyone else got it^^

@Herdatec I know it has been 3 weeks, but are you completely sure?
As far as I know all ships have crews. You could replace everything with robots, but it would be far more expensive and there would still have to be some people who oversee everything. A machine does not replace the ingeniousness of the human mind.
True, there is AI in EVE, but even the drone-loving Gallente aren't too keen on making independent intelligence after the teeny tiny rogue drone accident.

@ChrisVattic I have to change one thing: it were the Caldari and not the Gallente.
Nearly every NPC-ship has a crew. Thats true but all Player-Ships have not.
Secondly nothing is overtaken by an AI but the tracking of the guns. You just don't yell: 'Scotty energy!' you just think it and push the button in our mind. All those comlicated things to controll by our self is the reason why we have to train skills.

ill post this again cos theres still some confusion, The Amarr reverse enginered that weapon from either jove or terran artifacts, (its not clear wich and the difference is 'technically' negligable), The empress Jamyl sarum used it against the minmatarr and the gallente but each time she fired it it nearly killed her wich is ok cos one shot rapes evrything its near.
Players will never own this, and its really just part of the overall lore. The new dd device is similar but doesnt hit everyhting.

Ok I don't get it. I started playing this game but how do you make tons of money to get a good ship? Also, I never see lots of fights, where are the player factions and does someone keep track of results? Do they affect the game?

@Homecountry ooooohhhh, your too much in a WoW frame of mind, im not saying you play WoW nescessarily but eve a vastly different kettle of cheese to other mmo's. To make tons of money you need to find a trade, theres too many to list here so yr best joining a friendly player corp,try yr best not to get scammed tho, the game makers endorse that behaviour and to join the player faction war complete the tutorial and youl get a letter of recomendation to join the militia of the race yr playing as.

@Homecountry: Try running missions, or trading, or ninja salvaging or what do I know, it's your own choice :P
The fights are in lowsec and 0.0, they affect the game as in, every ship that is destroyed was buildt by some player, and therefore has to be replaced, and built by a player again.

what id like to know, is what happens to the Terran artifact weapon after Jamyl uses it? will ccp cover that in story to come? or was it a limite use kinda weapon? i just read the book and it was amazing, truly makes you understand all the Empyrean age trailers lol. Love this game :)

I believe it and Jamyl's Abbadon were destroyed in the last shot (the one fired at the Elder fleet) . Not sure though as it was a while ago i read it

Well, I just posted this 6 posts ago, but I've no problem repeating it:
This Abaddon is the ship of Jamyl Sarum, now Empress Jamyl I, which is equipped with an ancient Teran superweapon, IIRC it is called a "Nova Cannon".
She used it to destroy a large part of the Elder Fleet, which was bombarding Sarum Prime with insorum, the only known antidote to vitoc, from orbit, freeing millions of slaves (and in the process killing all non-slaves, muahahahaha)
