@Odhiscroco am with you all the way ! this is exactly what has been happenin for years with the likes of MP Joho B4 he became an MP and Punjani covering their tracks of dealing in Drugs by showing their communuties that they care and using their govt powers while they're destroying their own communities by giving the youth/imams small monies and drugs while the youth of Mombasa are dying in the streets ! A foreign govt had to intervene for these culprits/suspects to be named !!
@SimbMendapole,given the level of corruption in kenya,they would still have covered up the trails either way.
however,if the banks and other financial institutions(and mobile phone co) can co-operate with the govt, it is very easy to trace funds invested/banked or used from proceeds of drugs.
I think exposing the names of the suspects was premature & if the govt was sincere in cracking down on illegal drugs, it would have gathered the necessary evidence in advance & only announce when its ready to pounce on them & prosecute. This move will only give them time & space to coverup trails. I
I guess Sonko has learnt from punjani that the best way to protect their illicit wealth to to act as Robin Hood. Spread the wealth by helping the poor.
