Lesnar was always a very possessive champion and felt betrayed when Angle took the title and gloated about it, albeit in a friendly manner. Behind the scenes Vince McMahon offered Lesnar help to get the title back, which he accepted and turned heel and turned on Angle. Later on McMahon asked Lesnar to make examples of out guys like Spanky and Gowen thus why he beat him up.
