  • this is so nice!! even after 10+ years!!!!! love it :) B M W - Beautiful Mechanic Wonder :)

  • hO my god ... Bmw movie are very well done and executed !

  • test

    comment 7

  • I bet the "check engine light" was on at the end of the movie. :)

  • Wonder if he was pulled over for the shot out tail lights: P That would be suspicious : P

  • Extremely well made movie - a classic Frankenheimer direction - u r constantly on the edge of your seat - with some minute details taken care of - including the bashing of the head lights and the tail lights - and all side and rear impacts so that the airbag does not open up. A great short film, indeed!

  • if i was one of the bad guys i would never have been able to shoot such a beauty!

  • Stupid

  • WHY DIDNT THEY CREATE A FULL MOVIE???? idiots........

  • Clive Owen is great and all, but hasn't anyone else noticed that's Tomas Milian!?

    Italian cult legend man.

  • Frakenheimer...one of the best at chases. It shows. RIP.

  • DTLA

  • now he can install some xenons

  • umm, the money he made could never repair that car!

  • @marshall91T1 that's what insurance is for :0)

  • This is what Owen's screen test would have looked like for James Bond.

  • Details I noticed about the car and the film.

Titanium silver metallic 2001 BMW (E38) 740i Sport.

    Steptronic 5-speed transmission.

Widescreen navigation system screen suggesting a September 2000 to July 2001 build date which was the last for the E38.

The driver was braking with both feet for maximum pressure on the break pedal while the parking brake pedal is visible in its original position.

The van could be nitrous equipped, but couldn't match the BMW's handling.

    A very well executed film.

  • i got the original dvd when it came out, thought it would suck but, I could watch these for the rest of my life. Marketing genius

  • I like Ambush better than the 750il scene in Tomorrow Never Dies.

  • RIP John Frankenheimer.

This is his 2nd final film.

  • I love the E38 7 series, it's so pimpin'.

  • a 740i as fast at 240 km h NO! not even if he has 400 hp

  • BMW managed to prove one thing about the 7 series. Its not bulletproof.

  • This is a Fantastic film, and what blows me away is that there is no music. A great story with tight direction, good performances from the cast, and great visuals.

  • I WISH i knew how much of those bullet trails are done with after effects. (all of em?)

  • So a Ford Econoline is just as fast as a BMW?

  • what's up with the rear seatbelt? it looks like it's backwards. do they make the 7-series that way, or is it a wierd film mistake?

  • @musewolfman

the rear seatbelts on all, at least older BMWs where all that way to prevent passengers hitting eachother incase of your car rolling in an accident, quite clever actually haha

And great film, love the 7 in this

  • @ 5:20 he slammed the dam trunk,,,I get on my kids all the time, dont slam the trunk just let it down easy, then when it stops press on it & it will close itself!

  • he got just enough money to cover the damages to his car.

  • This happened to me last time I went on holiday with my family

  • Our hero has very high insurance premiums....

  • Jesus is worthy to rule earth, Jesus loves you.

  • 5:53. Rules exist to be broken.

  • This short film taught me 1 thing: German cars are NOT bulletproof!!!

PS: Can someone tell me what the song is called during the credits??

  • 2:32.. the director should have edited the scene out..

  • Dream car right here, just a few more years... ugh

  • could somebody tell me, why he put 2pedals (break and gas) in the same time? I don't get it ...

  • @90damyan It looks like he used both feet to stomp on the brake pedal. Considering it was an automatic 740i, this is probably the case because it would have had the larger brake pedal.

  • 2 of you has got nothing better to do i think...

  • @doodskater77 You have no more valid points. I'll let you save face.

  • in any kind of movie/ad their always using stick.

  • This 7 series is the best looking BMW...ever... all BMWs should look like that.

  • bmw , yang gue tau ...

    soooooo mahaaaaal !

    hahahahaa

  • @seirihann E8's are the best looking 7 series my friend.

  • I want to learn to drivelike that.

  • Sorry my english is not very well...In this Vid. he drives a automatic gearbox...But at 1.56 and at 3.35 min. you can see the Clutch...or is this the handbreak???(emergency Break)

Sorry for my English...My last english lesson is 5 Years ago...

  • @dondedonderonde

    @dondedonderonde

this is the BMW 740I 2000

with a v8 engine and a manual 5 speed gear box

    is it clear :D

  • @95115964

sorry mate, but your not quite right on this one. That is indeed an auto 7 series (manual 7's practically dont exist, except for a few custom jobs). What you see on the far left is the foot operated handbrake. Theres no handbrake lever on a 7 series. Also when you see him using the gear lever, its because he's using the tiptronic function of the gearbox to change down a gear. I have owned several of these cars so can speak with some authority here. nuff said :)

  • @1061david

thanks mr.david for your respectfully way to show me your answer

i wish youtube have alot of you

  • is the main terrorist david hayter of metal gear solid?

  • @hengnim never mind. i should wait til the end credits. but it sounds a lot like him.

  • wow. its sad to see a bmw in that sort of state, though what i really hate is how stupid old vans can keep up with really flash cars like that. in real life, he could have opened the throttle and could have lost them in less than 10 mins

  • @CAMNZ117 they're not just old vans, they are AMERICAN old vans. apparently vans over there are like wine, the older the better!

  • @CAMNZ117 the law of the old van my friend, never, EVER underestimate the VAN

  • yeah the video is awesome, not like bmw motorsport!!!sorry ass brunch they became..quit F1,Le Mans,NO DTM from a german company,NO WRC...ultimate driving machine ..4 the streets, not on tracks!!!and im being in love with them all my life..damn quitters

  • Clive Owen is a fucking beast

  • ok THIS IS COOL TOO I WONDER IF HE REALLY SWALLOWED THE DIAMONDS?

  • hym... the car has a clutch but when you see the gear selector its obviously an automatic...

  • If you want a BMW

Get the New Z4 or wait for the M5

  • Credit to BMW for making a commercial where the car doesn't emerge impossibly scratch-less.

  • They're quite powerful cars

  • i thought it was Bavarian motor works not motor Bavarian works hence B.M.W not M.B.W ...... idk i may be part german and still be wrong.

  • @mtbphinx007 actually BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke

  • he should have been the new Bond

  • @ephitania totally agree with ya...he's awesome

  • that was smooth!

  • I love the 7 series its just too bad they are so problematic

  • you have to be one fat ass to swallow 2M uncut diamonds

  • Clive Owen should be a driving instructor :0

  • I think I know what car will get me out of trouble.

  • wow some of you ppl over analyze movies too much, its a movie, just watch it

  • @doodskater77 i agree people need to just sit down and watch the movie...

you either like it or you dont

  • @doodskater77 No. It's a European style shot movie. Therefore it deserves analysis.

  • @doodskater77 fuck you. we have brains

  • Comment removed

  • @doodskater77 you didn't specifiy you were refering to this video crackhead. You clearly said "movies" meaning all movies in general. Go fuck another american

  • @skyhighvids im obviously referring to this video if i commented on it haha, and I say its a movie referring to this short film.durrrrrrrrr

  • @doodskater77 If you said 'movie' then you'd be right. But the FACT is that you said 'movies'. stupid, stupid american.

  • @skyhighvids dude you know wht i mean yur just a smart ass, im just referring to ppl tht over analyze one movie well they are gonna over analyze other movies also

  • @doodskater77 Over analyzing is a good thing. There are intellectuals on this world. There are hidden messages everywhere (not just in movies) that need people like me and other over-analyzers to crack open. This video is made by a respected director. It has the right to be over-analyzed. Not being a smart ass. I'm just smart.

  • @skyhighvids dude im not gonna waste my time with this haha, arguing is pointless

  • he, he ... bloody right ... two times ... greets from Germany

  • It's not the "clutch pedal" that he's depressing...it's the PARKING BRAKE PEDAL. He uses both the parking brake and regular brake pedal to perform power slides. As you state, the car has an automatic tranny, thus no clutch pedal. The e38 uses a pedal for the parking brake instead of a hand brake lever used in earlier generations of 7 series.

  • @feaqs u can't use a parkingbrake pedal to do a slide with, it will lock in place when u push it down. He's using both his feet on the brake pedal. If u learned a thing or 2 about cars, and actually watched closely you wouldnt look like a total douchebag with your technical details trying to ridicule some poor sod on youtube.

  • Thanks for keeping the credits in.

Credit where it's due for a great little film.

  • that driver is hottt

  • Ehm. That driver is Clive Owen.

  • this is called taking a bmw to a ragged edge :P

  • BMW 4 EVER

  • This video has been shortlisted as an online gamechanger of the decade. To vote for it go to GoViral website and follow the gamechangers link!

  • the audi s8 in ronin is better

  • both kids are good both in their own way :D

  • BMW is the best!

  • lol nice driving scene, but I love how many bullets cars and take and the passengers never get hit. Completely unrealistic. They are being fired on by .223 rounds, one would slide right through that whole car.

  • MBW, best cars!

  • Motor Bavarian Works

  • Good luck, a van vs a BMW 7 series. GO BMW

  • 2:00 niiice

  • BMW dont take shit from no one lol

  • 1:56

  • Awesome. but u could say that the message from this, is "this is how you should treat your BMW" lol

  • I want a BMW so BAD!!!!!!

  • @TheTarrMan You want a new 765 (the 745 is discontinued)? Better save up - it costs over 100k for a good model.

  • @eskercurve The biggest one is 760Li not 765 (:

  • whats the name of the movie?

  • It's a series of short films 8 in all... BMW Films "The Hire"

  • er he was not heel and toeing, hence the use of both feet. He was probably depressing the clutch as well as the brake as you would in a manual to prevent a stall. My guess is, the image was flipped in editing for aesthetic reasons. Heel-toe is used basically to match the revs with the road speed so you don't lock up the rear wheels in a powerful rear-wheel drive car

  • call me stupid... but I see him using the automatic shifter... and at 3.37-3.38 .... i see him planting both of his feet on the gas and the brakes... and you can clearly see a third pedal in the left obviously the clutch .. (or it could be one of those litle pedals used to open the hood? )

  • hey men don´t get lost

all "the hire" serie was produced by bmw as a marketing strategy instead of working on conventional media commercial anouncements in a time where they do not have new model´s to offer, great strategy making difference in the way to reach the customer and raising they sales great work boys!

  • what film is thet

  • this shit was hilarious...and somehow, it was in a good way, 5/5

  • Gosh, forget the BMW - I want that big breadbox van instead as it can go as fast as the BMW and corner just as well! Yeehaw! Detroit does it again!

  • what the fuck???? 3:37 while he was breaking he pressed both brake and gas?

  • you so realise this is a normal way to preserve high revs and carry on high speed after breaking

  • lol,to preserve what, you 12??? so if i wanna stop il yust press both acce, and brakes and that way i will stop faster and accelerate faster, lol you could make a lot of money if u tell that theory to the f1 drivers

  • correct f1 drivers dont do this, but rally drivers etc DO this a lot, specially aroudn corners.

  • lol, maybe they do on a different planet, the only time u press both acc and brake is if u wanna burn some rubber

  • Erm. it's called heal-toe. You use it to downsift and stay in the engines power band during braking. That way, when you are done braking you have the full power available right away.

(You're also using the engine as a for of ABS when doing this)

  • i know what heal-toe means,u so realize that u do that when u want to slow down before corner and exit faster,as u can see here, there is no cornere, and he is just trying to stop the car man,he isnt trying to accelerate faster or anything just stop the vehicle christ!

  • I looked at it again and I see what you are talking about now.

If you pause it at 4:25-4:26 it looks to me like he's putting both feet on the brake.

Not exactly propper driving practice, but then again he wasn't driving wehn they took that shot, the producer probably just told him to do that.

Well, chock that shot up to all the other similar mistakes you get in car movies.

  • yeah thats probably true

  • if you rewind time, F1 drivers did the same.. :-D

  • Heel Toe nigga

  • I love BMW e38. 740i- engine V8, 286 HP, good sound 5/5

  • the COOL car chase is played out.....unoriginal thats all

  • eww.....just cus it LOOKS cool doesnt mean it is cool.....i feel like i alrdy saw this.......its the same shit.......soooo unoriginal.....car chase oooo..........this is the most played out piece of shit ever

  • What is the correct order to watch them?

  • I don't think that money the passenger gave to Owen would cover the damage to that car.

  • love BMW 4 ever!!

  • lul, James Bond series sucks, it's not even good movie lul

  • these films mark the highpoint of the BMW product line. best 7series/M5/ etc

i always think to myself before buying a car, which would i trust in a high speed chase? and it would always be the BMW :)

but since i bought the new A8 its a toss-up haha

  • You think you're The Transporter? :-)

  • Try Volvo.

I saw one run over by a 55 ton tank, but neither axes nor bottom would break. A Volvo limousine can take a lot.

  • That's a good point! But I would rather take my my 15 year old Volvo 850 T5-R and leave them both to fight it out between themselves :)

  • If I were him, I would have a gun and take a shot at the vulnerable driver of the van.

  • It would be the login thing to do, but then again, we wouldn't have watched this kick ass car chase!

  • that bmw got merked

  • why doesn't he just outrun them ?

the beamer is more than fast enough...

  • i love that they didn't mod the cars. all they do is turn off traction control...sick!

  • Actually they did mod this particular 750. It comes stock with an automatic transmission, and since you couldn't do these moves with an automatic, they had to build in a 6 gear manual gearbox.

  • really?!?! I had no idea. i guess I'm wrong. I know "the star" they turn off traction control...but then again, the M5 is a performance car and has manual...so turning traction control is not to hard to imagine

  • Yeah, they said this in a making of video... I have to correct myself though - it's a 740 in this movie, but most probably they also came only with an automatic gearbox which had to be replaced (to perform that high speed U turn seen at 2:50 for instance)

  • the efects of shots are very good .

    ANd the bmw holly sheet

  • favourite of the series.

  • what explodes in teh van? was it full of tnt or what? still pretty nice :)

  • That car would have out ran that van in a heartbeat!!!

  • the van was modded

  • Even if it was modded its unlikely to keep up especially with all that weight it had on board, lots of men and weaponry

  • Badass!

  • How good is the BM if you scratch it! Damn fools!
