Summer in the City was a hit in the states, too. It's been playing on the classic 50's and 60's stations daily up until maybe the early 00's up until Clear Channel Communications bought damn near every radio station we had.

But yeah, the disco-pop sound is generally kind of offensive to American listeners simply because of its sound. Foreign groups are generally well-received... as long as they don't sound like this.
