  • I seen this chair for years in pics, and always loved it. Thanks for the info. Beautiful.

  • Thanks for the information! I wanted to know the difference between the herman miller made lounge chair versus the vitra and now I understand :)

  • I really don't understand the concept of copying here. In the US the design patent lasts for 14 years. So the only thing there that would be copying, is to use the trademark word Eames, which belongs to Herman Miller.

WSJ made an article on this

  • Someday it will be mine! +$5000 is a lot of cash though :(

  • BTW: the "originals" are in museums. Today you will get reproductions anyway. Also by Vitra.

  • This video is absolutely crap. I got my Lounge Chair from Italy 2 yrs ago and I am glad I didn't invest £ 4500,- but only € 2200,- including ottoman. perfect quality and just for a vitra sticker and a signature on a label I wouldn't pay £ 4500,- .

The proceeding technology of italian producers theses days is very high and absolutely to compare with vitra products. Anyway Vitra doesn't sell the original version any more since the 1990's. I got mine at classicstyle org

  • i have a question,

if someone is selling Eames Lounge Chair - in Rosewood, (100% authentic), for 1000 usd, but the chair is not in perfect condition (the leather is fine, but some parts of the recliner are broken). is it still a good investment if it's fixable?

  • @kellyhilltop yes

  • @kellyhilltop about the chair, is come complete with the ottoman? I think if your wiling too invest an extra 800 on the skin and veneer, it would be

  • This video is not 100% true. It says if it doesn't have 'Vitra' on the logo, it's a copy. Wrong. It can have Herman Miller on there too.

  • @phototristan

It says "If you're buying in Europe and it doesn't have the Vitra label, it's a copy". Herman Miller doesn't sell in Europe.

  • I think I will buy the knockoff for $1000!

  • Invented by homosexuals in 1956 these are wonderful gay high style chairs. All gay men of taste should have at least one. I often sit in mine nude to experience the feel of soft leather on my back and bottom.

  • Charles and Ray Eames where a man and woman, and married.

I think you where invented by homosexuals.

Which makes as much sense as anything you have to say here.

    Closet case?

  • opps-were

  • Well I have one and I like it very much, but I'm not gay. What should I do? Can you help me? Please do not give up on me and show me the way.

  • I've terrible pain from a medical condition & just can't lay flat nor get up from a 'sleep' position- so I prop myself in a chair/chaise to rest.

After saving 2 yrs (around medical costs & other tedious depressing bits) I plan to purchase my GENUINE ARTICLE w/ottoman by 2011.

Obviously: I believe in the Quality of Brand as I am willing to suffer and wait! Durable softness & more-can't be faked! Choice to wait: Agonizing. Choosing my leather, wood? Near as hard!

My Eames shall WELL outlive me!

  • I bought my Eames reproduction chair from a company called Siedasi - I'm so happy with it

  • yes I had one time a replica lounge chair. It was so cheap looking that I had to sell it. 5 star base on both pieces, smelly low quality leather, terrible. No more replicas.

  • Totally agree! Thanks for watching, be sure to subscribe to our videos :)

  • The Vitra Company is right...ALWAYS buy a Herman Miller or Vitra Eames Lounge chair if you can afford it! The quality of the Chinese chairs is lousy, and the Italian chairs are not built to the same specifications as the originals...they are not as comfortable or durable.
