@AugustFirst1927 k first off, u white devils put aids and other disease in Alkebulan, and dont worry bout wut us Blacks r doing, just know u fucks will b back in the European caves
@PACMonopoly Hey brother, just wanted to say don't let the racists get to you, thankfully most people of european descent look back with shame and grief at the deeds of their forebears and disown their genocidal and inhuman actions.
This beautiful song is a wonderful example of the African spirit, moving, powerful and deeply beautiful. I can only hope that the people of the world will become less hate-filled, treat everyone with love and respect, and celebrate our diversity together.
I just love the sound!!!! I have a question, there is a song that children sang for President Nelosn Mandela. I would hum the melody but I don't have means of posting the video here. Help, anyone, please. I'm a chorus teacher and would love my students to learn it.
This is NOT the national anthem because the most beautiful language isn't in it, i want to make that very clear to everyone. waar is die Afrikaanse deel??
@Grunneger050 It isn't the national anthem because it doesn't have the two most beautiful languages in South Africa in it. Long Live Great Britain, and Lank lewe Suid-Afrika!
@AugustFirst1927 fuck Great Britain, Europe and the rest of the white societies around the world.. ALKEBULAN AMRI!!!! ALKEBULAN AMRI!!!!! (Black Power)
@PACMonopoly what's you mean with the term "white"? You can find whites from Arabia to Iceland, from Morocco to Pakistan, from Argentina to Canada...be more precise.
@Grunneger050 Africa does not need the Dutch (or the English) to be beautiful. I think it is 'very clear to everyone' that stating that Afrikaans is more beautiful than all of the languages in Africa is arrogant, disrespectful of the atrocities perpetrated by those peoples and probably illustrative of your underlying racism.
I've heard the version with 'die Afrikaanse' in it, and I much prefer the African words. Thankfully people of all races can choose to live together in peace.
@taohinton You use a lot of big words, but i will try to keep it simple. You know what is racism? If someone say that another person is a racist. I definitly think that Afrikaans is the most beautiful language of south africa. Likewise, when someone says he doesn't like rap music, he does not automaticly hate all the rapers. I think spanish is the most beautifull language followed by afrikaans.(my opinion) and i was just saying that this is not the national anthem, because it isn't
@Grunneger050 I have no problem with you finding any particular language to be especially beautiful :) I think that going out of your way to comment that this original all-African-lyrics version "is NOT the national anthem ... I want to make that very clear to everyone" is ... at best dodgy, and on such a racially-charged subject seems insensitive and rude. You didn't say "beautiful song" or "great stuff" or anything positive. Incidentally, no comments even mention it being the national anthem.
@taohinton what do you mean all-african? Afrikaans is just like any other language in south africa a part of Africa and why do i have to say that i find a song beautiful when i don't. Yes, there where comments if this was the national anthem. Some dutch people where saying that this was the national anthem. but people who speak english ofcourse think that everyone will translate his sencenses into english, but that's not the case. why do you even care? Are you from south africa?
@Grunneger050 There are currently 53 comments on this page - not a single one says that this is the national anthem - in fact there is already a comment explaining that it was the ANC anthem, which was combined with Die Stem to form the current national anthem. Have a look for yourself!
@taohinton do you speak dutch? becasue if you did, you could read the comment about if this was the national anthem and you wouldn't flap your mouth about things you know nothing about. again my question? why do you care? are you from south africa?
@Grunneger050 Why have you chosen to comment on a song which you have said you *don't* find beautiful, why not let people just enjoy the song?
Are there comments on the Die Stem page saying "This is NOT the national anthem because the most beautiful language isn't in it, i want to make that very clear to everyone. Where is the Xhosa/Zulu man???" ofc not!
People come here to listen to and enjoy this music. We find it beautiful and moving. If you don't, why comment? Leave us to enjoy its beauty.
@LarryScottBB They may be singing the ANC anthem, rather than the official South African Anthem. As I understand it, when the ANC came to power and it was decided that a new anthem was necessary, they took the ANC anthem and then added the Afrikaans and English translation from the old anthem, Die Stem/The Call. this recording may be the original song/ANC anthem that did not have English or Afrikaans in it.
This is a very beautiful song. Having been raised monolingually, I imagine that it could be difficult to find someone fluent enough in Xhosa, Zulu, and Sesotho to sing the entire song, but on the other hand, I cognitively understand that the majority of the world is raised polylingually. Even so, from what little I know about Xhosa and Zulu, it seems somewhat unlikely that someone would be raised speaking both...
I'm glad you like it. :) This is one of my favourite versions of the anthem. You can find it on the Winds of Worship, Vol. 14: Live from South Africa album.
@mttaYtB Please, i am looking for another version of the old Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika. It was sang in orchestra style. I don't know the lyrics at the beginning of the song but it sounded like "wo si le jambo, vu le, vu le" or something that sounded like that.
Ik snap niet waarom deze niet de Europeesche taalen (Englesch en Afrikaansch) er in heeft?
Officieel hooren die eróóck bij.
