It's not the funniest or cleverest show ever made and it really does depend too much on popular references, but "Mongrels" isn't really that bad. In fact, it's very funny and adorable a lot of the time. In other words, it "hits more than it misses", if you take my meaning. So far, Nelson and Vince are my favourite characters.

This particular episode, which was the first one I saw, was pretty disturbing, though. In a good way.
