@CollieMessiah umm actually if it were hurting the dogs ears, it would be a much higher pitched whine and im sure the dog would try to get away from the toy making the noise. Some dogs just like to make noises along with other noises. Try paying some attention before you make yourself look like an idiot. its obviously not crying.

Dogs howl because they want to be part of the pack(or whatever is going on). Like humans, no one wants to be left out. Each dog usually picks a distinct pitch to make themselves stand out in the pack. However since Jingle Bells doesn't just have one pitch the dog is forced to improvise. This is not animal abuse, this is a dog participating in the fun.

Denying them of that would be the abuse. Our 12 yr old White Shepherd who went to Rainbow Bridge last year used to say, "Ah Raa Roo" when we would say "I love you" to him & he called me "MuhMuh"

Granted they aren't always in tune when they sing, but that would be people abuse if anything. LOL!
