Hey guys be sure to buy Pinetop Perkins new album called, Joined At The Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. I bought it in June when it first came out and love it!
Imagine living to be 96, let alone still on the road, rockin' out! Caught Pinetop a couple of times at Antone's in Austin in '08, he was with Hubert Sumlin and Eddie Shaw the first time. He's very personable to visit with and quite a character, as evidenced by some 'off the record' comments about an attractive young lady in attendance.
I saw Pinetop, Willie Big Eyes and Bob Stoger in June 2009 At Dakota in Minneapolis!
Amazing concert , lasted way over 2 hours with increadable energy level . What a talent , they had so much fun playing , we all felt priviage to be part of " their' party. It fet like one great part with friends not a paid concert , now thats art !
that would make him 95 and still going strong, what a strong soul he has, one of the pioneers of blues still boogie woogieing and rockin" LONG LIVE PINETOP!
Hippie is right. These guys are all blues legends and when you can get them on one stage, look out. This is 200 years or so of collective experience from guys that were born to be musicians. Thanks for posting this Irene and keep picking that banjo.
THE MUDDY WATERS BAND MEMEBERS.. Still playing...! --Pinetop Perkins, 93 years old (or 94?)- Willie Big Eyes Smith, Bob Margolin.. ALL ARE -- MUDDY WATERS ALUMNI..Bob Stroger, one of the Best Bass Players ever, From Bo DIDDLEY's Band, AND MUCH MORE.. ALL PROS in their own bands and backgrounds. This day could not have been hotter, and the stage was on fire. One for the books! Thanks for posting..
