Wow, what a great song. This is the first time I have heard this. I am a fan of Bread which of course makes me a fan of David Gates and I was searching to find the song "If" on youtube and I came across this little gem of a song. Just awesome.
Nice that David wants to leave his ranch and perform occasionally. Some of the older acts don't give a crap about the fans any more. David does obviously. What a life. retiring to a beautiful spread out west and making beautiful music! Ahhhh...
Contrary to what that little factoid says above, "the name for the group "Bread" came from the fact that all of the guys made their living playing sessions in L.A. and needed "bread'.
Wow that some outfit! Really a shame this guy has done so little work in the 90's and 2000's, would love to see him on a tour. 1997 reunion tour came and went without my knowledge. Who would know within 10 years of that every member of Bread would be dead except gates and it would indeed be the end!
