  • OMG! A fitting update for a fine old song! Grew up with the divine D'Oly Carte (i KNOW the spelling is wrong) version, but this gives it a fitting for the money, and one every worthy sailor and his mother would bet on, :-)

  • sideshow bob was far better.

  • thank you, the simpsons.

  • Can't listen any more! (45 seconds)

  • Learning this for my singing lessons :/ and i sounds crap in this :/

  • Learning this for my singing lessons :/

  • I Prefer this portrayal of Buttercup.

    when is this from?

  • Much prefer Sideshow Bob's version

  • That Kiwi accent peeking through at 0:48 (when she says 'though I can never tell why') just doesn't work at all, it's grating on my ears!

  • Our choral program is putting this on in March and I'm trying for Buttercup. :)

  • Please tell me she's played Nancy at some point in her career?

  • Best Buttercup I've ever heard... really captures the fun and spirit of the character and the opera...

  • Oh, this Buttercup is so much more fun!

  • why doesn't else have this interesting of an accent?

  • The pink shirts may be a wee bit much.

  • Do you have the full version with Rima Te Wiata in? The one I have has Amanda Muggleton who is good but I prefer this one.

  • 70's australian production, nice though I always Thought Buttercup should be played by a guy.

  • Buttercup was originally intended to be a "plump and pleasing person". That quote is taken from the script of the show. That doesn't mean she has to be plump.

  • Ive just played Buttercup and Im definately not fat, I think it a fantastic part. She is fantastic!!

  • You´re right, it looks like a gay navy.

Now I get why Stewey from Family guy performs it in a gay way.

  • HMS Pinafore (with most of G&S's musicals) was always meant to be a comedy. What's wrong with updating it for a modern audience?

  • i like you way of thinking:D

  • @cnbr85 because she's singing with a a musical theater voice instead of a classical voice

  • @cnbr85 There's a difference between updating and dumbing down. This is not updating. This is stripping away all musical integrity.

  • Whose must the undies be?

  • A New Zealand Politician who apparently spent a few hundred dollars on undies.

  • Tuku Morgan

  • why do none of them have opera singing voices?

  • because its not supposed to be an operatic remake

  • She's wonderful! It's a completely fresh take on the character, and Rima infuses it with sauce, charm, bawdiness, and a voice to kill for!

  • She sounds cockney to me, which kinda ruins it for me.

  • BUTTERCUP'S SUPPOSED TO BE FAT!!! Thats why she doesn't understad her name

  • i played little buttercup in a huge production last year and tbh i am very slim and not fat, i suppose anyone can play the role as long as you can pull off her charm:D

  • ooo fantastic..her voice..well done

  • haha!! i like it when she screams ^^ ;)
