I went to NWS back in 2009, They had the NES Prototype on display with the controllers,Keyboard and the Original Zapper, I have photos of the prototype on my site here.
nintendocosmos DOT c o m Backslash nintendoworldstoreinfo DOT h t m.
For those of us who used to play the original nintendo entertainment system like our lives depended on it, does it make you feel old that this system is now displayed at this store like it is in a museum; as if they dug it up from the mezzazoic era?
omg i was there yesterday with my friends and i was playing brawl and thesee freakin kids kept talking like "oh dude giant pikachu" and "whoa zelda vs link, thats just wrong" i was like shut up lol
@legendofzeldafanboy I checked on ebay.com and it was from about $80 to $400. So you might find a good deal sometime on eBay. I got mine when it first came out, in about holiday season 2007.
Looks like a wicked store John! infact i'd love to go there myself, as i don't think we even have one here in england and it looks like you and Dommiesan had a great time. great video man :)
@Gamester81 :D You must be otne of the few people to go there and instead of wowing at the museum part, you're going "got it" "got it" got it" "need it" "got it" :D
This is the best video tour of the Nintendo World Store that I've watched. I really envy that I can't go there and see it for myself. :( Nintendo is such a great company with a great story... :)
wow eres dichoso a ir a nintendo world puedes subir mas videos de nintendo world ¿ pero graba mas para conocer bien el mondo de nintendo va sigue asi.
@PhyA52 lol yeah that'd would have been cool. I talked to a kinda large set guy with brown hair, and a chick down stairs that had long dark hair. Too bad we missed you.
Last time I went(in February 2010) they wouldn't let me film in there. I love the Gulf War GB.WEre they still selling those massive 8 bit wall clings?Next time your in the area John let me know. There's some great retro and import stores to visit as well.
"So I can Pikachu...." Don't quit your day job John LOL!
@SplatterTrigger Yeah for sure I'll let you know next time I'm in the area. Yeah they had those huge wall clings (kinda like Fatheads), but they were selling for like $75...way too much.
The Nintendo World Store was ok, one of the things that REALLY annoyed me about the store was the complete lack of Kirby and StarFox related merchandise or items.
Nice video but had to stop watching half way as dont want to see any Mario G 2 footage as its not out here yet and dont want to ruin seeing it on YouTube ha ha
What's crazy is for years I used to walk past this store to goto work and not once have I ever stepped into this store. I've seen it go from a Pokemon Center to the Nintendo World. Perhaps subconsciously I have a strong disdain for Pokemon. lol
I've been there so many times, and I love it there. But If you look very closely, the "damaged" gameboy is fake. Right under the screen there is a small, perfectly good looking piece of smooth, brown, shiney plastic. hard to see in this vid, but i'm being honest.
@MrGoomba909 I noticed that also - I think they replaced the screen. Honestly, I don't think an LCD screen would survive any kind of heat like that. Especially those super-cheap 1st gen Game Boy's. But it is possible that the rest of the guts were original. Those PCBs are actually quite tough.
@dommiesan Very true. but, they should've at least put a little effort into making that part real. Ah, whatever. lets just enjoy nintendo world for what it is, real or fake Damaged Gameboy.
@RetroGamerVX Nah, not nervous. It was a long, hot day though and I was a bit exhausted having found out that a good friend of mine passed away unexpectedly that morning.
Nice video, Gamester. That place looks friggin sweet! Definitely have to check it out if I ever make it to NYC.
Did you get to see the Nintendo Advanced Video System? It was the prototype model for, what was supposed to be, the US release of the Famicom back in '85. I'd read or heard it was there, just wondering if it was true.
Thanks, man! Can't wait to see the next review!! =)
@NOOBEPICASSO Meh, it's not that small - just somewhat sparsely stocked. The "museum" could have been better - would have loved to see a Virtual Boy display.
We did go into an epic GameStop somewhere around 34th and 6th. We didn't film it, but it was probably the biggest GameStop either of us had seen.
@NOOBEPICASSO Yeah, the GameStop was somewhere right around there - a block or 2 from Penn Station.
Video Games NY was on my list, but we didn't have that much time and it's alllll the way down in lower Manhattan if I'm not mistaken and Nintendo World was uptown.
If we had more time I would've liked to go there and I also had an idea of filming a parody of the Mike Tyson's Punch Out password sequence where Little Mac jogs behind the trainer riding a bike with NYC in the background.
I still think it's cool they let people film in there. So many places get all paranoid about that these days. So how many millions did you guys spend there? :D
