Mr Chang was born in Kampar,Perak,Malaysia.Initially,he was a carpenter.He determined & dared to go to Hong Kong in 1960s despite his background;the time when almost everything was poor & backward including communication & transportation;the conservative views of the people at that time.I admired him in spite of his result & outcome.
在70年代香港只有国语，英文流行歌，广东歌是初步了厅堂。因为60年代 ‘7日鲜’ - 粗制滥造的粤语长片把香港人吓坏了。
但绝大部分香港人是广东帮，突然来个鄭錦昌唱起广东歌确是有些情切感，所以。。

鄭錦昌是馬來西亞, 霹靂州, (Kampar)金寶人. 木匠出身的他, 在資訊交通不發達, 鎮上人人保守的60年代, 卻不畏出身, 心懷大志, 勇闖香江. 不論其結果如何, 我是佩服他的.
