Sort of chappie, sort of, but misses little bits on all points. Problem is like any other from taking a book to the film. And, unfortunately, it's not quite there. Hey, but thats hokey. Sky have completley fucked it up. You, I think should approach a bigger organisation, the vision is good, (for kids type).

I ain't gonna rag on you cos u got an american voice cast, I mean if I was doing this for an american book it'd be full of "cor blimy guvna"s I'm sure, but it's just u guys just don't have the history to be able to pull off a elizabethan/victorian setting such as the discworld... the accent just seems wrong somehow.
Errr... about that, where did you think the American accents came from? I've never heard a genuine imitation of a Victorian-era English accent, mind you, nor has anyone else alive today, but I'll wager an American can get just about as close to it as a Brit can. You think you guys sounded the same then as you do today?
@KazimierzCIE the Victorian era ended in 1901, not that long ago infact I'm sure there are many alive today who where alive then. Guess what it's exactly the same accent as now. Don't try challenge my knowlegde of English history because you have no clue mate. Go watch Oliver then you'll know what a Victorian accent is.
I'm sure your English History knowledge is superb, friend, but your Linguistics is a tad off here and accents in particular can change a lot quicker than that. Who says the Victorian accent was the same in 1901 as it was in the early 1800s? Couldn't tell, since the phonograph wasn't invented until 1877. But since, in the last 150 years, the city of Los Angeles has developed an entirely different accent from the rest of the US (each reagion of which has its own)... see?
@KazimierzCIE Bad example man the USA is 40 times the size of the UK, not just England, so it's not surprising that an LA accent sounds different from say an NYC one. If at least two totally different accents had formed in one state in the period of 82 yrs, how long Queen Victoria lived for, then I would agree.
The only reason size is significant, though, is because it divides LA from NYC (and others). The English-speaking population of the entire country, however, was made up of former British with, naturally, British accents. Which is saying that, 200 years ago, people in London, Boston, and Atlanta all spoke English with pretty much identical accents. Why would Britain be the one place where it didn't change?
@KazimierzCIE Ah but Englands immigrant population is far lower than that of the USA. Pronunciation of words hasn't changed since Dr Johnson wrote the dictionary in 1755. New words have been added to the Oxford english dictionary but the pronunciation of the words has not changed.
Just look at Dickens work for example. All based in the Victorian era and containing cockney and upper class people. Writen to sound like they did at the time.
I've seen big studio films that are far outstripped by this. Very good. I'm sure you'll have a great future in animation and hope to see something more done with this. Amazing work on the dubbing as well.
i agree with most people, you should persue this, im a big fan of discworld and feel very sorry for the people who dont enjoy reading because they cant enyoy all the greatness of terry pratchett. try get a bunch of people to help and spread the labor and just make it for free distribution, like on torrent sites, if your not making money surely its legal??
How nice it would be to see more projects like this to bring the Discworld to life to whole new audiences. You've selected just the right sorts of scenes to sell the story as a film trailer. An admirable effort! Bravo!

This is positively sublime, from the animation and the soundtrack to Vimes' voice. It's just one of life's great pities that copyright law gets in the way of you producing the whole thing... :(

Sort of chappie, sort of, but misses little bits on all points. Problem is like any other from taking a book to the film. And, unfortunately, it's not quite there. Hey, but thats hokey. Sky have completley fucked it up. You, I think should approach a bigger organisation, the vision is good, (for kids type).

Really well animated, must of taken u ages.
I ain't gonna rag on you cos u got an american voice cast, I mean if I was doing this for an american book it'd be full of "cor blimy guvna"s I'm sure, but it's just u guys just don't have the history to be able to pull off a elizabethan/victorian setting such as the discworld... the accent just seems wrong somehow.

Errr... about that, where did you think the American accents came from? I've never heard a genuine imitation of a Victorian-era English accent, mind you, nor has anyone else alive today, but I'll wager an American can get just about as close to it as a Brit can. You think you guys sounded the same then as you do today?

@KazimierzCIE the Victorian era ended in 1901, not that long ago infact I'm sure there are many alive today who where alive then. Guess what it's exactly the same accent as now. Don't try challenge my knowlegde of English history because you have no clue mate. Go watch Oliver then you'll know what a Victorian accent is.

I'm sure your English History knowledge is superb, friend, but your Linguistics is a tad off here and accents in particular can change a lot quicker than that. Who says the Victorian accent was the same in 1901 as it was in the early 1800s? Couldn't tell, since the phonograph wasn't invented until 1877. But since, in the last 150 years, the city of Los Angeles has developed an entirely different accent from the rest of the US (each reagion of which has its own)... see?

@KazimierzCIE Bad example man the USA is 40 times the size of the UK, not just England, so it's not surprising that an LA accent sounds different from say an NYC one. If at least two totally different accents had formed in one state in the period of 82 yrs, how long Queen Victoria lived for, then I would agree.

The only reason size is significant, though, is because it divides LA from NYC (and others). The English-speaking population of the entire country, however, was made up of former British with, naturally, British accents. Which is saying that, 200 years ago, people in London, Boston, and Atlanta all spoke English with pretty much identical accents. Why would Britain be the one place where it didn't change?

@KazimierzCIE Ah but Englands immigrant population is far lower than that of the USA. Pronunciation of words hasn't changed since Dr Johnson wrote the dictionary in 1755. New words have been added to the Oxford english dictionary but the pronunciation of the words has not changed.
Just look at Dickens work for example. All based in the Victorian era and containing cockney and upper class people. Writen to sound like they did at the time.

I've seen big studio films that are far outstripped by this. Very good. I'm sure you'll have a great future in animation and hope to see something more done with this. Amazing work on the dubbing as well.

i agree with most people, you should persue this, im a big fan of discworld and feel very sorry for the people who dont enjoy reading because they cant enyoy all the greatness of terry pratchett. try get a bunch of people to help and spread the labor and just make it for free distribution, like on torrent sites, if your not making money surely its legal??

How nice it would be to see more projects like this to bring the Discworld to life to whole new audiences. You've selected just the right sorts of scenes to sell the story as a film trailer. An admirable effort! Bravo!
