  • some players sang only one song, some players sang both songs. Does that mean they have different political view about their country? sorry, but I don't understand. If they do not identify themselves as the same, why they still have to play together as one team? why not play as ireland and northern ireland?

  • @ususopen Ireland's Call is a song commissioned by the Irish Rugby Football Union for use at international Rugby Union fixtures.teams.While "Amhrán na bhFiann" is the national anthem of the Republic of Ireland, and has been used by some Irish Olympic teams, its use arouses sensitivities among those with Unionist sympathies in Northern Ireland.[1] Equally, the national anthem of Northern Ireland, as part of the United Kingdom, is God Save The Queen

  • @daemanknight yeah but in the olympics they can play there national antehm because the brits arnet in control of it the IRB has a BAN on the soldeirs song being used out side ireland because of on lyric trnaslating to "we will defeat Saxon enemy" the IRB which is mostly brittish took offence and banned the irish national anthem out side ireland that and it makes them remeber the IRA kicked there ass years ago

  • @supersasukemaniac ...well said, Cuntface, ha hs

  • @ususopen sense there is no North Ireland national ruby team the Irish team is a unificatoion of both some didnt sing Solders song cause theyre noth irish

  • THE BOTH OF THE SONGS ARE amazing

  • It seems that Ireland´s call was made for rugby matches:)

  • @margor59 it was indeed created especially for the irish rugby team back in 1995!

    VIVA IRLANDA

  • 'Together standing tall' at 2:33, lol!

  • @clivebull1 ...fuck off cunt

  • j'adore Ireland's Call.

  • Vive les peuples celte long vie à eux !!! Bretagne for ever!

  • Doc a raison.

  • come on ireland

  • C'MON IRELAND

Go BEAT Wales tomorrow and take the GRAND SLAM home to the Emerald Isle where she belongs:)

I am SO excited - Wales at Cardiff is NO easy task so its going to be one hell of a game!

"c'mon you boys in green - c'mon you boys in green - c'mon you boys.....c'mon you boys green"

  • Good bet :D HAIL IRELAND!

  • This year the slam is for us!!!! Ireland rules!!

  • Magnifique Irland's Call Splendide

  • The Ulster players won't sing Amhran na Bhfiann, Munster players won't sing Ireland's Call

  • coz there scum

  • Wooow..i'm italian, but this version of Ireland's call is AMAZING..really!!!!!!!

  • ouaaaa, quelle hymne !

  • erin go brach

  • Only 27 days to the next demolition of the english!!!! Come on you boys in green! OOH AH UP THE RA!! Any more chants please feel free to leave them!! COME ON IRELAND!!

  • only 3 days to go now til there gone like the tan. eire 32

  • Firstly, I realise you are 45 so am not going to have an argument with you as a mark of respect! 2nd for what business it is of yours half my family are from the north and finally, you will struggle to find a bigger irish rugby fan! Do you go to all 5 games religiously every year?? Na, didnt think so and oh yeah, who the F**K asked you anyway??!!

  • Ireland are the grand slam champions, id ont know why the IRA and religion comes into rugby because there is no protoestant-catholic split in the rugby team s there is noo need to talk about it

  • I don't really understand where I got my dislike for the English from. There is just something about them.

I really think they need to say their sorry and say it like they fucking lifes depended on it.

One more thing. Ireland should change its flag Green with Brian Borues Golden Harp.

  • Now I'm honestly a pretty easy going guy. But and I was born in the United States in 1987. So way beyond the accounts that happened 59 years ago.

Ah just I've have had my experiences with them and I would stay away from them if I could. Not that I'm saying there bad just that there bad for me.

  • I have been to Ireland and I understand the culture pretty well. I know that a lot of Polish citizens have gone to Ireland for work. I know its about of the European Union.

Anything else I wanted to know I can read in the Irish times. I know also that the Irish economy as around the world isn't that great right now.

Also your wrong about there not being any room for anti English sentiments. Its called being human.

There are people that still don't like the English for the American Revolution.

  • I think the celtics hymns are the bests, the most powerful, meaningful, simply the best.

  • some of the words in english means in valley green or towering crag our fathers fought before us and conquered the same old flag thats floating over us were children of a fighting race that never yet has known disgrace and as we march the foe to face weel chant a soldiers song this is sung at the start tiochfaidh ar la

  • These are NOT the words for amhran na bhfiann.

  • Ireland's call is one of the most beautiful anthem in the world... a rugby anthem I love. Even if I'm french, I could cry with this crowd who sings this song of freedom.

Well done guys and good luck for the next six nations.

  • What caused all the emotion was the fact that a team of irish players were shot dead by british soldier on this very pitch. Anyway nice to move on positivly in the future.

  • Not quite ! They killed one Irish player - Michael Hogan from Tipperary - and also thirteen innocent spectators. This was their brave response to the assassination of a group of British spy's by the IRA that same morning.

To put it in context can you imagine a bunch of Nazi's shooting into the crowd at the Stade de France in retaliation for the actions of the French Resistance ?

But I do agree that we should all move on but not without paying due respect to some of those who got us here !

  • To stand on Croke Park and sing Irelands call, words can not express how you feel

    Thank You !!(Mallorca)

  • Ireland's call is fucking awesome!!Music and text are really impressed.

Respect to all Irish people from Russia!

  • Yes it is i have even became goose skin under such strong patriotic music!

  • Ireland's call is beautifuuul =')

  • fuck england,love ireland

  • jsui aller en irlande

    c tro beau comme pays

    surtout jolie hymne...

    alors VIVE L'IRLANDE

  • des frissons partout

    vive le rugby

  • Magnifique!Just Brilliant

  • i'm sorry, i dont quite follow your argument. if you feel the impulse to make such sweeping statements, i'd advise you to go off and read some history books before you make a fool of yourself on a social network.

  • so what did they do then?

  • We were neutral because at that time our country was just establishing itself as a nation. We had finally won our freedom from the British after 800 years of oppression, and lets just say we had a lot of work on our hands... If we had enter a war at that time it would have set us back, we had already been fighting for long enough and needed a break to sort things out. Anyway, at the time I'm sure if the Irish did get involved we wouldn't have made much of a difference...

  • I am so confused. Which song is the official anthem of Ireland? Soldier's Song or Ireland's Call? Why did they sing both? Which one will be played in the Olympics?

  • amhran na bhfiann (soldier's song) is the republic of ireland's national anthem, not the whole of ireland, but i don't know what they'd play at the olympics, sorry

  • A Soldier's Song (Amhrán na bhFiann) is the Irish national anthem that the ROI sing and because it Irish rugby team consists on people from both north and south they sing Ireland's Call because it doesnt offend people and as for the olympics go people from the north con choose who they want to play for either GB or Ireland so then A Solider's song will be played

  • If he people from the north choose to represent ireland, then Ambhrann na bhiann will be sung.

  • Soldiers Song is the Republic of Ireland's official anthem but because the team includes men from Northern Ireland (separate country)

they also sing Ireland's Call. If I remember correctly when they play abroad they only use Ireland's Call. It's confusing but it works for us.

  • irelands call is used because irish rugby is 32 counties and our national anthem is for the 28

  • come on u boys in green crush them english scum.

  • Irelands call is shite , i prefer our old national anthem, its got fuckin history too it

  • exactly. Ireland's Call has the future to it. Look forward... there's no future in the past.

  • Ireland`s call gives me goosebumps everytime!

Can`t wait for Saint Patrick`s day!

I`me maybe Belgium but my heart is Irish!

  • pourquoi 2 himnes?

  • it's the other way round

the second one is Ireland's official rugby anthem and Amhrán na bhFiann is the country's anthem

    cheers from an Argie

    bye

  • oooooooooooooohhhh

  • get fucked its a crapsong end fo story-a foreign bastard like you wouldnt undestand
