  • I have written exactly one review for an album/CD on Amazon - this concert. As great as the horn solos are, the bass solo, and even OP’s solo, the best part of this song is Oscar’s play as accompanist. Everything about is is impeccable. This is one of the greatest concerts ever!

  • check Clark circular-breathing a chorus around 2:00.

  • That's the best 10 min of Jazz I've seen forever! Awesome

  • Why is the trumpeter pumping his jaws?

  • Great stuff just wish the horns weren't mixed so loud. all Great musicians playing like crazy. Niels was my favorite bassist. I don't think you could make a machine that could play like that lol

  • Great stuff just wish the horns weren't mixed so loud. all Great musicians playing like crazy. Niels was my favorite bassist

  • Great stuff just wish the horns weren't mixed so loud. all Great musicians playing like crazy

  • I had to play 8:50-9:14 over, like, 20 TIMES in order to fully appreciate what the rhythm section was doing! Wow!

  • damn wat can i say my idols both horn players together wat a treat thank you!!!

  • NHØP, Yieehaaaaa!

  • the drummer arm is starting to ache...

  • ONE WORD......WWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahaaaaaaaa Peterson is very fast !!!!!!!!!!!4 :)))))) yeeeeeah

  • wow..speachless...

  • This is my favorite of all time hands down!!!!

  • Unique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ¡Kiko...La Grasaaaa gorda!!

  • @robertojimenez204 Creo haber entendido cómo Interpretar el comentario. O quizá no. Gracias de todos modos!

  • You know who I feel sorry for?? The drummer because he has no BReak!!! And he must keep up tempo to keep up with these guys..Poor drummer!!

  • @boyTerry Well, it's a jam session, why does he need break? I think Bobby Durham is doing a great job here.

  • @boyTerry you forgot about the bass player - he has to walk veeeery fast!

  • @boyTerry thats what they do bro. I wouldn't feel sorry for anyone sharing the stage with CT, Diz, Lockjam, Oscar and NHOP!

  • JEEEsus! this has made my week.

  • @pricelesspistola321 That's what I said when I found this!

  • Ahhhh I love this Video! Thanks for sharing!

    I love Clark Terry! :)

  • @thykapow I love Clark too!! He's my fav!! And Dizzy too (and they''re together here!!)

  • After the greatest giant finished his solo, everything before it is forgotten. The great Oscar Peterson is himself doing exactly what he said of Art Tatum's solos - wasting what's gone before. Man i love that man

  • 3:48 hahaha

  • What's so fun? Look at their faces. Count Basie, who performed there minutes before said about this: "Look how serious they are; notice how Clark isn't smiling, Dizzy's not talking and 'Jaws' is not looking at either one. Those cats aren't joking, they know what's coming up".

  • that guy at 3:45 has huge cheeks!

  • Sure, he's Diz!!

  • brainstorm; new jazz category for the enthusiasts, [advanced bebop] how flying it is.

Old Lockjaw sure wasn't, his duet album with the 'Little Giant" still ranks at the top in my mind. Glory be to God!

granz how great is he? too marvelous for words. i'm caught inside a mobile and glad of it. halleluiah

  • Last week I was talking about Granz with a musician who met him about 50 years ago. He remembers his huge ring!!

  • That is why Granz was wearing that ring: so your friend would remember him 50 years hence.

Promoters managers bookers etc. all want to gain immortality treading at the foot steps of the rich, famous and gifted. Maybe that's why many of us bother to post things here:

We die tomorrow but the You Tube will be archived who knows how long?

  • Yes!! I think you're right!!

  • They build the tension soooo well.Truly one of the best combos. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.

  • I'll try to get the full concert

  • Hi: That would be great.Looking forward to enjoying the full concert.Wow! That would be good for an exciting evening.Let me set the seen.A few jazz friends, beer.Volume turned up and silence.

  • Yeah!! Something like that!!

  • yo tengo este documental en dvd.. es buenisimo

  • Did anyone catch the "Star and Stripes Forever" quote Clarke Terry made?

  • Yes!! It's great!!

  • I love Lockjaw Davis, this guy plays hell and looks like doing a sunday walk.

  • I never thought about the sunday walk, but you're right!! And of course, he's one of the greatest tenors in history

  • Superb!

    What a combo.....

  • That's what I said when I found the album. I didn't know there was a video for that too!!

  • E P I C

  • E X A C T L Y

  • Dizzy is already past his peak physically here, I'd say the victory goes to Terry. But they're both brilliant.

  • The song was titled by Count Basie, who was watching this from the musicians room with Norman Granz. He told to Granz: "Look how serious they are; notice how Clark isn't smiling, Dizzy's not talking and 'Jaws' is not looking at either one. Those cats aren't joking, they know what's coming up". When the tune finished, he said, in refference to Clark and Dizzy: "Just like Ali and Frazier".

  • Also, in the liner notes, Norman Granz says: "I deliberately pitted Dizzy against Clark, nowing that each would push the other to the maximum".

  • Che emozione! è raro assistere a un gruppo di jazzisti così famosi suonare insieme. Thank you very much indeed.

    Armando

  • Grazie, Armando. Questo è il modo per godere di una jam session con i migliori!

  • la leche!!! q bueno!!!

  • No se puede esperar menos de este selecionado! Planeo subir algo más de este disco, aunque sólo el audio, ya que este es el único tema que tengo en video.

  • thanks so much for uploading this!

I have been raving about this magnificent and exciting tune for almost twenty years now. And still, I just can't listen too much to this recording.

  • The entire album is great. I promess I'll upload another tune from "Oscar Peterson Jam" (only the audio track). Maybe "Bye Bye Blues" or "Things ain't what they used to be".

    I'm glad you like it!
