But you have to read the Lost Encyclopedia (which is canon according the writers). A big book with a lot of the mysteries explained like who killed the Ajira crash survivors? Please, everyone should take a couple months to study the final scene. Learn who Christian really represented throughout Lost, the significance of Jack's wounds, the significance of the number 316, the significances of Vincent, etc. The final scene did total justice to the series and then some. I'm realizing this 9 months after the show's end and I'm extremely happy about it.
Watching Jack's eye open at the very beginning of the show always gives me butterflies. It's a beautiful show, and a beautiful concept. This man, along with others of course, are all lost in their lives... it takes a tragedy for them to find their true purposes and find themselves. LOST is the best thing that's ever happened to me, I know I sound like a nerd, but I don't care; it's the truth. I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for LOST.
I have never, ever, seen a completely satisfying end. The best the series was, the more challenging it is for the end to be great, or even good. There is something inherent to parting with a universe you really dug, a reality that entangled you for years. Closure is almost impossible to atain. In something as complex as Lost, not every question can be answered, not every mistery can be solved. The resolution can't be mundane. I think it was about the best end we could have got.

Looked like a normal season ending, not the LOST end. I also thought that the entire 6th season was strange... don't know how, but I didn't liked it as I loved the other seasons. The mirroring of story and developments over the course of the sixth season could not be overseen, so this is very much the perfect ending to LOST. Like it or not.

They forgot the part where he passes the new sneaker hanging in the bamboo in the Pilot; and later passes it much older and worn out in the Finale. Apparently the shoe was thrown from the initial plane crash.

Soooo many theories for that. Time travel, The Others maintaining it to make it look like DHARMA was still on the Island, simply a bad glaring continuity error. The great part about it being over is that all open ended questions are left to you to fill in the pieces and draw your own conclusions, rather than having it spelled out.

Well to be honest, I didn't appreciate "the end" when I first watched it, but after watching the whole ep, some parts, again, and especially after this video, I've come to realize that it was perfect, despite leaving many questions unanswered. It probably could have gone even longer. You missed the panning of the bamboo forest where the white shoe was hanging from the trees. That same shoe was in the last scene - just a bit dirtier.

I didnt watch lost very much, but i watched "The End". Didnt like it. I get that the island was purgatory right? When did everyone else realize they had died? What happen to the people who flew off the island on the plane? And what was the deal with showing everyone trying to escape the island, then cutting to them in a city meeting each other? You shouldn't have watched "The End" if you hadn't at least been watching the entire sixth season. The island wasn't purgatory, that was real life, where there were lots of unexplained questions and phenomena.
The sixth season used "flash-sideways" scenes, which showed the Losties, seemingly, in another life without the island. Those scenes were a "purgatory" of sorts.

What do you expect? If you did this for any other drama on television, you would be just as confused. It's not just because it's LOST.
The idea was that the island was real life. The events that happened on-island actually happened. When you see the plane flying away, that implies that, yes, they got off.
The "purgatory" scenes in Season six are x years after everyone dies in their own separate ways. Jack died in the final scene, some of the characters were already dead (Charlie, Boone, etc), those on the plane will die in fifty years or so like normal people, and Ben/Hurley will die after their duty taking care of the island is over.
After everyone had died, they met again in this other life and helped each other "move on."

This is no coincidence. The imagery may be similar, but the implied meaning behind the predicted ending is entirely different behind what really happened in the finale. The prediction implies Jack died right after the crash. The actual ending he dies after everything really did happen to him on the island.

Epic ending... couldn't be more perfect! It made me cry but it let me satisfied and actually feeling like everything came to a good ending.

@theforbiddenplanet not really this is not planned. the writers got stuck and wanted to close the show as a loop so they decided to repeat the beginning in another manner in a closure scene. Novels and stories end this way all the time, its a classic ending

I loved lost....but since season4...went down hill.... ending was boring I thought...all the mystery ended at season4 It had the mystery but you didn't give a shit If anyone would die,they destroyed Sayid completely at s06. Jack Is pathetic and annoying... I always hated Jack...he always acted as he was better then everyone when In fact he messed up on alot of issues. and the generic ended focusing on Jack was horrific... Season1&2 awesome! season3 okay... afterwords way downhill. any1 agree?

I didnt watch lost very much, but i watched "The End". Didnt like it. I get that the island was purgatory right? When did everyone else realize they had died? What happen to the people who flew off the island on the plane? And what was the deal with showing everyone trying to escape the island, then cutting to them in a city meeting each other? Im guessing the city was after purgatory?

Duh.
You shouldn't have watched "The End" if you hadn't at least been watching the entire sixth season. The island wasn't purgatory, that was real life, where there were lots of unexplained questions and phenomena.
The sixth season used "flash-sideways" scenes, which showed the Losties, seemingly, in another life without the island. Those scenes were a "purgatory" of sorts.

@pianollama52 Yep.. I have no plans to watch any full season of it. I dont like the show all the well, but its alright. I really just wanted to see how it ended. If the island was real life, then when did everyone die? After they left the island? I watched maybe 10 episodes total, and never understood wtf was going on. It seems you gotta watch every episode from the start to have a clue.

What do you expect? If you did this for any other drama on television, you would be just as confused. It's not just because it's LOST.
The idea was that the island was real life. The events that happened on-island actually happened. When you see the plane flying away, that implies that, yes, they got off.

The "purgatory" scenes in Season six are x years after everyone dies in their own separate ways. Jack died in the final scene, some of the characters were already dead (Charlie, Boone, etc), those on the plane will die in fifty years or so like normal people, and Ben/Hurley will die after their duty taking care of the island is over.
After everyone had died, they met again in this other life and helped each other "move on."

This is no coincidence. The imagery may be similar, but the implied meaning behind the predicted ending is entirely different behind what really happened in the finale. The prediction implies Jack died right after the crash. The actual ending he dies after everything really did happen to him on the island.

Creo que muchos nos hemos enternecido con este final, al parecer. Es bueno saberlo, yo personalmente no pude evitar llorar con los reencuentros -de felicidad- y con la muerte de Jack -de tristeza-... de ahí el final agridulce, que creo era justamente lo que los guionistas buscaban.
Han sido 6 años con la compañía de Lost, 6 años no únicamente de una serie de tv si no de comentarios entre amigos, de compartir fotogramas para intentar desvelar secretos, de teorias y spoilers... una experiencia.
