I am just thinking out loud: since CO2 reflects IR, it should also reflect the IR emitted by the sun back to space which is the biggest heat source for the earth. So, wouldnt this end up with a balance in the end?

and it does too "reflect" slightly more back in space. Absorbtion and re-emission is not exactly like a mirror, it's more random directions so it is more like scattering. Visible light energy absorbed by earth transformed into IR light + heat coming from earth itself are dominant. Visible light carries more energy then IR.

Incoming IR I guess travels some distance within the atmosphere before hiting a CO2 low concentration is a bit of a trap I guess, % reflected is small.

Black body radiation means that the sun which is 5500 k - white-hot, emits shorter IR than the surface of the Earth which varies upon the season & night and day which emits longwave radiation.

Exxon via the Bush Whitehouse engineered the replacement of IPPC head Prof Bob Watson, and they ended-up with Dr Rajendra Pachauri, who they hated just as much. So in private Exxon really didn't like the IPCC.

Sorry i disagree. The Climate issue is about revenue and encroachment on personal freedom If they cared about the health of the earth they wouldn't have set off all those nukes(Google that), nor boiled the ionosphere regularly. I believe in clean-air fuels but they are talking about something different. They are talking about people paying them because of their activities. They will still fly rockets to space and set off bombs. They are using Depleted Uranium in Iraq! They dont care about earth
