To me what is noteworthy about Suraiya's voice is its natural sweetness,unpolished through riaz under ustaads or gurus and yet no less melodious. It is as if one had a talented sister who just used to sing for family folks or friends as a golden oriole sings in the woods but some day ventured on to a stage with just a little help from a gifted music director and lit up an entire music hall.
