His voice is always shot. He tours most of the year, obviously no voice training so he really puts a lot of strain on his voice every night. Plus drinkin and smokin. More times than not he'll apologize for his voice at a show. He still sounds great though. He's got a pretty voice, and its almost cooler hearin him try to get it to come through the raspy-ness. Great vocals though.

Dave screws up all the time, that's what makes seeing him so interesting - he's a real person! Not just a repeat of a cd you buy in the store, seeing him is an organic experience.

I've seen him 6 times so far, and each show has something of a little "mistake" like singing the Tripping Billies' 2nd verse twice, or whatever.

It makes the whole experience seem like something more than watching a prerecorded show.
