@MachinimaRecon probably if you wanted to. wouldnt be a good idea though. the buildings have been abandoned for decades and havent been up kept. could fall through the floor or anything. if you injuired yourself, there wouldnt be medical help for a while either. plus then people would find out your in there which is actually illegal. they try to stop people but its a large area.

Indeed, that is the swimming pool of Pripyat. It was in use untill 1998!!! (for workers of the zone)

I heard that there was nobody living anymore in the town, but that workers came there and that the swimming pool was also used afther the accident.

@matsmpmats workers go there everyday since they're constructing a new dome to cover the 4th reactor, itll be completely done and over in 2012.

on some tours people see the bussen with workers comming by.

in total there are maybe 100 people living in the exclusion zone, the government looks the other way for those few.

im hoping to go for a tour here in the next comming years, ever since i saw my first photo's of this place i wanted to go there.

Indeed, that's the swimming pool. The swimming pool of Pripyat was in use until 1998!!!! It was used after the disaster for workers of the Zone and/or nuclear plant nearby.

gamma rays are the most serious as they can penetrate skin and are the most likely to alter DNA and cellular metabolism. There are numerous radioactive isotopes left, but they don't penetrate skin as easily and can only be exposed via ingestion of food products or open skin surface, and are less lethal than gamma rays. CS-137 is the most prevalent and threatening isotope but it is absorbed by the ground. The plutonium core has a half life of 250,000 years and is VERY lethal

thank you for the informations but i think that if gamma rays r up to penetrate a blindage of 20 cm width, i think being exposed without a protective wear is very dangerous. By the way, what kind of isotope has been spread in Pripyat?

There are dozens of isotopes spread around, but the most significant ones are Strontium 90, Caesium 134 and 137, and Uranium 234 I believe. Of course they decay to other radioactive forms as well.

In Chernobyl, there are living 4000 people said my guide. Most of them are workers at the plant, and they stay normally only 14 days at once in the Zone.

Hi Fekaso. I've visited the zone myself. There is also another self filmed movie on my movies.

I went there by booking my trip by soloeast travel in Kyiv. You can find them with google. It is legal to visit the zone with a guide.
