Haha That's the best way to do it to if you cant weld. or don't have the tools to weld. It works but not the safest. As long as you get a good amount of screws in there it should be good.
Speed limit signs and other traffic signs are good for replacing floor panels aswell. Know a fella that had somehow ran across 3 or 4 hundred old signs and for years we have used them for everything you can think of.. They are aluminum and some are thicker then others.
In England and Germany a car with as much rust as that would never pass the annual test. I did do a similar job to that in about 1970 but the annual test has been tightened up over the years. Originally it was just brakes, lights, steering and tyres. The horn had to work. Now its just about everything!. Pop rivets, self tap screws and brazing are not allowed. Emissions are also tested (at the end of the 1 hour test) Often the engine has cooled down and an unjustified failure is given.
no, thats what happens when you dont have your car or truck RUST PROOFED! itll stop rust dead in its place basically anywhere on a car except for right around the wheel wells where salt is constantly bombarding it... its worth spending the 400$ cnd to protect your very expensive investement.. ie your car
Damn! That's a great idea! I have the same problem. I'm gonna do this until I can find a replacement floorpan to weld in. Just curious though -- what would you do about future rust on the pre-existing floor pan? I'm thinking of cutting it out and painting it with that POR15 stuff or some other protector. Any suggestions?
I had this problem and I put a $5 piece of sheet metal under the carpet. I did not worry about sealing it up or fastening it to the car body. I just was not into having a Flintstones Car LOL
Good job with the video, it shows how to fix a bad problem on the cheap!

Be careful as in some places the patch MUST be welded or a spot road check will get the vehicle towed

Nothing wrong with a repair like that for a winter beater. Wouldn't want to take the time to clean it all up for a MIG anyway.

@ingaman The best way to do it would be to sandblast it and spray it with metal etch. But POR 15 is a good alternative.
