@MrNoak2 so how is this even considered music? there's no rythym, beat, time signature, structure, anything. it's just noise. sure, you can argue that it's 'experimental' and going beyond traditional music but uh .... i don't even understand why you would want to do that since i don't find it very pleasurable to listen to.
@MrNoak2 obviously at this point my side of the argument is losing. you turned it into an argument of something subjectivity & opinion rather than actual fact. you ignored what i was saying about how it takes no talent to create and just tried to refute the fact that you find it enjoyable to listen to when i find it to be garbage.
@leeknivek You have the mindset of a typical "cubehead."That means you've set ways of perceiving this world which happens to be "round".When you confront forms of expression that'snot well defined you scream "But this is not music!". it IS Music. And this man is a genius.I will tell you why he is a genius. He stirs in ME emotions I never felt before. If I respond to this sound, it means he's able to get his message to me.In your case you are DEAF to his message. It's your problem.
@narkiz whatever if you want to listen to bullshit screeches and screaming and feedback, go ahead. it'd be one thing if he used it in a clever way and made it MUSICAL with a TIME SIGNATURE and RYTHYM not random and ridiculous. i may be deaf to your shite but at least i can write a fucking melody.
i took my 1 and a half year old daughter to a turn table hell gig about five years ago.her procedure was to join in vocally.they seemed to appreciate it.otomo and a few others said so afterwards.its all good
stripping away and examining the dimensions mof music and man's wonderment, and place within the frequency of sound is the philosophy of man--history of celebration and inquisition. but honestly otomo's music sounds like shit and i would never pay anyone esp. not him to listen to it--we all make this music that he makes everyday. with our mouths and fists and fingers --every minute of our lives-it is the art of the ritual of life.
i do agree, but we need not limit ourselves only to "our mouths and fists and fingers". reflecting on life can bring new areas of expression into our knowledge, and musical performances are a vital act of reflection and expiramentation. we should pay and support these artists, because their creative language speaks loud enough that it wound up on here in the first place.
@narkiz 4 years ago, at the beginning of you tube i made this comment..ok...but yes i still stand by every single thing i said....we all make this music every minute of our existence, it is indeed the ritual of life..i would never pay someone to induct this into my brain. this is not from " a kung fu movies" but from the sound of dinner cooking and the beatings of the heart, the sweat of the palm, the throttle of coffee brewing and devolution of belief.
Wonderful, many thanks for uploading this clip. I saw and met Mr. Otomo a few years ago at the Impakt Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands. A great guy, and his show was awesome.
Although he is quite created, it still sounds like a bunch of.. stuff.

@leeknivek I don't think it matters if it's takes talent or not. It's the end result that matters, not the means of getting there.
MrNoak2 7 months ago
@MrNoak2 why didn't you just copy and paste your last statement. bye.

That's easily the best version of "Lonely Woman" I've ever heard other than Ornette's original, of course.

Yeah Anode and Dreams are both very good, but for me, the ONJQ's LIVE album - specifically FLutter and Eureka (tracks 2 & 4) - is amazing.

Ground Zero Plays Standards
ONJQ - Dreams
I think both of these are available on iTunes.
