As the crew chief, let me try and answer some of these questions and comments.

The powerplant is a single Teledyne 402, a "Y" pipe around the rear tire allows for dual afterburners off the single engine.

Throttle is in the right hand. There is no clutch, what would normally be a clutch is rear brake. Also our comm. button and parachutes are in the area of the left hand.

Smoke on the line is fuel dumped into the exhaust. Strictly for show.

It puts on for a good show... The jet engine powering up is very exciting, even if the run time isnt very impressive, its still very entertaining. Which is why most jet powered vehicles are a type of car that usually isn't use for racing; Semi Truck, School Bus, Vans. And seeing a crotch rocket with one is no less entertaining.

well guys,

just to set the record straight, I got the record for the quickest and fastest Jet Bike in the world a couple of years ago, 191 mph in 7.9 seconds. I agree that isn't impressive by today's standards, but that was during a test pass. Considering it's nothing but a big ole hair dryer with the tires along for the ride it ain't bad. This ole heap is just starting to pull at the 1/4 mile mark. I've had the girl over 200 at the 900 foot mark. I usually run around 200 in the low 7's
