The only problem with the slap chop is that in order to use it, you have to pre-cut most of your ingredients into small enough pieces to fit in the chopper. :(

it seems a little odd but you actually have to slap it, what a suprize XD. It's got such a tiny area of cutting that you need to get in and out quick so it dosen't stick to the blade and it cuts clean through. The main problem I see people do in reviews is either don't hit hard enough, or over fill the compartment, it's like trying to cut straight through something by pressing the knife right up against it and then trying to cut it with one swipe. XD

@joemama114 uhm. If you've ever handled a properly sharpened chef's knife, you can do exactly that - knife against the food, then straight through it. Most people have no clue of what a real knife and a little practice can accomplish. The SlapChop, even when it works as advertised, (which it seldom does) delivers an inconsistent mix from a fine mince to chunks. If SlapChops were viable food prep tools, you'd see them in professional kitchens - but you don't.

Finally, a proper demonstration of this thing. I watched some earlier today where the "reviewers" (including one from consumer reports--lost many credibility points with that one, IMHO) were pressing down on that plunger too slowly to chop whatever was under the blades. One even tried chopping half an onion that wouldn't fit in the chopping area, so she placed the slap chop on top and seemed surprised when the blades didn't even make contact with the onion.

@maluminse1 look on ebay for "garlic silicone" there's a tube. You put your garlic in, roll it, and BAM the skin is gone! Ok it doesn't make BAM, but you can yell BAM when you do it for effects :)

Wait..Dicing celery the old fashioned way is easy. I guess it's a matter of getting proficient when you cut and chop everything with a knife. I don't think I'll ever get one of these instant chop devices. I usually smash garlic with a broad kitchen knife instead of chopping it. much faster

That looks and functions the same way as a chopper we purchased in the early 90's. works the same, button on top you slap and it chops it up. Heck, Even the blade looks, and is shaped the same way. I wouldnt be surprised if there really is no difference between that, and one i guy way back when. its just a copy lol

This video may have convinced me to get a Slap Chop. I never quite bought the idea that it's as great as the commercial says it is, and it isn't, but I really liked this video because it wasn't an advertisement, just an honest go at it. It might not be the miracle do-anything product that Vince Offer would have us believe, but it sure looks pretty nice to keep around for SOME things. I'm a cook myself, and pretty handy with a knife, but this seems like it'd take the tedium out of mincing.

@WardeL here is an update. The blade will get dull in a few months after using it. I use it about 2 times a month. Once again, I'd rather use a knife then wash anything. it's always comes down to the same reason. I use this when there are 3 or more things to chop. :D
