Hmmm, I love my Etymotic MC5's the highs have such a crisp and smooth sizzle on cymbals. I'm addicted to it, and the bass is just perfect and it sounds so much better than the shures I have.
No, they don't need any burn-in. Burn-in with IEMs and headphones is more of a ritual than anything. You break in shoes, clothes, not headphones. Amplifiers do change as a result of burn-in, since the value of the components (capacitors, resistors, etc) change over time but that's a whole different story.
Just got my HF5 today. Bass is quite light, not very comfortable, but definitely great for critical listening. These things reveals pops and cracks in recordings. Isolation is tops as well.
@borismontoya136 BA don't burn in, but dynamics burn-in? Why? Both have got moving parts. Read up on Tyll's AKG K701 vs Q701 test. The K701 is said to require hundreds of hours of burn-in. But after roughly 1000 hours on the K701 and none on the Q701, it was still difficult to differentiate the two in a slightly flawed blind test.
The notion that , "you gotta let a headphone run for a few hundred hours before it sounds its best" is complete bull-.
@s10096209 BA's have less moving parts in it than a dynamic driver making them don't require as much "Burn-in" as a dynamic one. And yes all this stuff about burn-in is weird, poeple say its all psychological and about placebo effects and other poeple say its about loosening the drivers diaphragm... I kind of believe in both of them.
@ThisGuyLovesMusic Actually they have nice base but you'll never know if you don't do the burn-in properly. Most quality headphones necessitate a burn-in of 20 hours or more.
this is one of the most detailed iems out there. you can get them shipped for like $110, and they can smoke some of the most expensive headphones when it comes to details. be sure to load them with high freq. music, 320 kbps will get the job done
Do they leak? Reviews hardly ever mention that, but it's a prety vital thing if you listen in public and don't want to get filthy looks from fellow passengers.
if you thought that was expensive, wait till you hear about a set of HD800 from sennheiser. those cost around 1,400 and are made to order. Sound quality is something that you have to hear. the more and more expensive you get, the higher the clarity and sound reproduction.
@ballersack maybe. But in this case, HD 800 definitely has a higher potential sound quality than the HF2. Though, it is not recommended to compare open back cans and IEMs so i am gonna leave it at that.
I have the hf2 that i won in omarcorreas giveeaway and they r AMAZING i had them for a couple months and the sound quality never gets old its not for athletes b/c they are noise canceling and when ur running or cycling u have to know what going on around u
i have the Bose around the ear headphones, but since i'm a track athlete ive been looking for some headphone to wear when i run and train... ive been looking at a brand called jaybird which are active headphones, i was just wondering your thoughts on if these(etymotic) would be a good set to use
Ya they would suit your needs. I am trying to get a pair of jay birds though to review if u want to give me a few week to see if I can acquire a pair.

Does anyone hate when people try to give these types of reviews when they know NOTHING about the product besides what they read on the box?

@sweetypie000 you do realize these aren't made for bass? These are engineered for treble you have to know that before you buy these...

People say tht these headphones are very good at high frequency such as symphony orchestral Piece.
I myself is a classical lover so I love these headphones.
But then I would also like to use it for movie. I am worrying about its bass, they say that the bass lacks and the phnak Audeo is really better.
Can someone please reply, give me some comments?

@fendweller no leaking whatsoever, it's an inner ear canal-phone, so all the sound is in there.

in comparison to some of the mid/high-highest cans they are kind of cheap.

more $ doesn't always mean better sound.
case in point: Bose.

I dunno, i don't think they'd cancel, say a car honking, and if he's looking to use them for running on his own i think they'd work really nice.
