This peice is nice, but seriously, the people need to stop coughing, the babies need to stop screaming, and that person needs there phone off!!! But anyways, this peice is nice, and sorta lulls me to sleep
This is probably the best piece of music ever written. It's a pity there is no bass because the whole piece revolves around bass and treble and we only hear treble.
You know, 90% of the population of earth have no idea of music. All of these people that go to these concerts by Mozart or Strauss or Beethoven or Brahms or Verdi and sit there yawning and belching and farting.... YOU try to compose a full orchestra piece that will be remembered for hundreds of years and see how good you are at it!!! Sorry, just really pissed at THAT woman.
It WAS the Spy Who Loved Me. I think, this is one of the greatest pieces ever written by Mozart or anyone. So, so, simple and so perfect. The piano, so easy, so simple and yet perfect. THAT woman at 2.32!! Yes, your hair is shit. And shes yawning!!! For Christ's sake. Why is she even there. Get OUT!!! Just leave if you don't like it. Grrrr.
Many years ago I read a comparison of IQ's of the "Brainiacs" of earlier years. Mozart, along with Isaac Newton and another guy were estimated to have IQ scores of over 200, while Napoleon scored a mere 160 or thereabouts. I cannot recall the whole list, but Beethoven was there too. The list probably came from a Readers Digest omnibus or collection.
I think it was Stromberg's underwater home, in The Spy Who Loved Me movie. The music comes on while he is sitting at the long table and the fish are seen from the port-holes.But I may be wrong, it was many many years ago I saw the movie. Perhaps someone else can help?
This is so beautiful and indicative of Mozart's genius. The question I have is why in the early part of the concerto do they have a symbol of torture for us to see? That is despicable.
The cross is in the picture because the concert takes place in a Church. The cross is in front of a pic of the Angel Gabriel announcing to the Virgin Mary that she will have a child, Jesus, who incidentally ~33 years later will get hung on the said cross. IF you are familiar with the Christian believes, you will know that that "torture device" becomes the "redemption device", since Jesus Christ died on the Cross for the sins of the world.
Oooh Kay, I get it now. Jesus is the savior if you are Christian and thus, you can sin on credit because he died for sinners. So only sinners actually need a Savior. I am not one of those reprobates.
Well, Mozart had to suffer the same: many noises during the most beautifull music ever..
It's also called "Elvira Madigan", because of the use of this adagio in a tragic, historical event involving a Swedish office committing suicide after killing his great love, filmed under the title Elvia Madigan. See DGG-label.
Where did this take place? The noise, the interruptions, the realism just add to my appreciation for the excelence and quality of this execution. These seemingly spoiler distractions make this piece, at least to me, more nonsynthetic and more human. The tempo is stupendous! perfect! I just wish I'd been there. Who do the credits belong to? Bravo!
This is very nice---I'm partial to Barenboim's, but everybody's different when it comes to the tempo of any given Classical piece. The ambient sounds (kids, chairs shuffling, etc.) are kinda cool... >;-D
I think the tempi is correct. It is an Andante. Perhaps the name "Elvira Madigan" has been unfortunate. Meanwhile let´s enjoy this beatiful performance. Excellent both, pianist and orchestra
shein99, your comments were disgusting! Are you a music major. Whats in a name? What is important is the beauty of the music and the genius behind this celebrated piano music.
Incredibly disrespectful to the orchestra the way the audience was continually coughing and walking around. Totally ruined it for me. Shame because the music was beautiful.
I know that "Elvira Madigan" is not the name of this piece and that there isn't any connection with Mozart. Personally, I hate this name for this concerto. But I put it on youtube with this wrong nickname only for a search engine related reason.
@shein99 Piano Concerto 21 is what I have always known it as. Thanks for clearing that up because I have always wondered where the Elvira Madigan title came from.
The trill of the piano needs to be a bit more stronger, I feel. Anyway, on the whole, top-class playing.

this concerto is NOT called Elvira Madigan, i wish people would stop using that term.... please, no one remembers that ridiculous movie anymore.
plus, the stuffy 19th century romantic aesthetics used in that movie have absolutely nothing to do with mozart.
it is the concerto for piano and orchestra number 21 in C major, (K467)... as simple and wonderful as that.
