this is not, in any way, my favourite movie of all, but this scene... this scene represents the greatest quality Spielberg's movies have - MAGIC! Damn these chills...
do u notice how brachiosaurs sound like they're singin to john williams melody? their noises sound acording to the score hahah so beautyful.. sorry for my bad english
I visited the US in July of 1993 and the second day I was there my cousin took me to see this movie. I haven't seen a trailer and I never even heard of the movie before that day.
It is to this date the most beautiful and thrilling cinema experience I ever had.
1:23 the Brachiosaur calls out to the rest of the herd because she's found food. Man! It's the little details like that which makes this movie incredible.
Hello guys, I've made a video to pay a tribute to Youtube and all it's users. I really would like to know your opinion guys, the link is here: watch?v=FnV3oG9Gcfs
Sadly; this dinosaurs no longer exists. Well actually it does exist but under a different name now a days! Will so much film history around this particular dino; it's sad that in a way it's gone now!
I hope this made sense too someone because I did not know how to type what I was thinking!
@daviddarkmaster Actually, this is a Brachiosaurus (listen to what the old man says about the neck length), which has always been the real name. Brontosaurus was a dinosaur that was put together from different pieces of skeleton, and has since been debunked as an improbable genus, kinda like Iguanadon, before they found the rest of the skeleton, not just the thumb.
What I love about this movie is its not just action. There's a level of beauty in this movie, and nothing about it is over the top. Like in most CGI filled movies today.
Is it me or is there An editing problem? At 1:24 you see the brachiosaurus' head overlap the trees but seconds later, when it turns, its head is behind the trees. Can someone explain that to me?
@luigimon25 I think maybe they were trying to put the brachi's head in front of the branch and when she turns back around it's suposed to be behind it. But idk :)
@jurassicparkfan4eva Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but idk. Sucks that if you really look at it, it's noticeable. I still love the JP franchise! haha
I went to see Jurassic park in 1993 I was 10 years old. Soon as I left the cinema I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life I want to make movies!!!!
back in the days when I was in first or second grade I thought it was real. was really magical and I still remember those days :( For many years I thought the special effects were the best but now I see its CGI.
although this scene is an absolute classic and pure movie magic, this is the only scene in this film where i feel the effects have dated a bit.. the Brachi is the least convincing dinosaur in JP imo..
they didnt hear this shit before they showed up? It's stomping around like a fucking earthquake and she's all looking at leaf. ho ho ho nice leaf ya got here. oh shit a dinosaur the size of a fucking house is just standing next to me, how'd that happen!! t-rex shakes peoples drinks nationwide but this thing is as stealthy as a cat.
Gotta love that Spielberg introduced us to groundbreaking new technology that would forever change the face of cinema, but he knew his limits and never abused it. There's still large amounts of sets, scene locations, practical effects, etc. While movies like the Stars Wars prequels, for instance, just say "fuck it, green screen." I feel that if you don't love your art, you can't expect anyone else to love it.
I wasn't old enough to experience Star Wars in the movie theater, but I was old enough for Jurassic Park, and this scene is my equivalent to the opening scene in A New Hope when the Star Destroyer blasts across the screen. Simply awe-inspiring. Something that had never been seen before. The thin wall between fantasy and reality is completely shattered, and you find yourself wholly entranced by movie magic. Easily one of the greatest scenes in any movie ever.
@ValkyrieIsAboutToDie Prior to seeing your comment, I was gonna write something very similiar. You brilliantly expressed the thoughts of millions of 20-something year olds worldwide. As a cinema lover, seeing this scene inparticular as a 8yr-old in the theatre will stick in my mind until the day I die as the 1st time I was really captivated by the true magic of cinematic-creation. A ticket was $8, the amazing experience I was offered from 2 hours in the theatre in late 1993, was truly priceless.
2:52 "How'd you do this?" a compeltly genius and self-referential line, as the audience themselves was asking the exact same thing. We knew that it was a movie, but at the same time, we actually thought these dinosaurs were 100% real. A magical moment in cinema that will never be replicated. This was a time when special effects truly were special.
Yes bro. I can see your point perfectly. In the 90's the special effects were truly magical because that was the begining. Nowdays you can see CGI and other things in every movie. Even when you go to the cineme people except from every movie to be spectacular. When this film made it was extremely surpise for everyone because they have never seen like this before. Today you can find computer tech in every film...
@somethinglacking1 I agree. This IS when special effects were truly special. I remember being at the theater watching this scene. I was blown away and my mom had tears in her eyes. Awesome scene. Wish special effects were still this good.
YES! I finally found a proper clip of this scene after trawling through that bible behemoth rubbish. This to me, is the most incredible scene in any movie ever. I also prefer this to the apatosaur herd in the book.
This movie was RELEASED in 1993. They began making Jurassic Park in late 1989. This film revolutionized the movie industry. And even to this date, 22 years after they began making this movie, it still has the greatest visual and special effects of any movie.
I always thought that dinosaur was just standing there eating and not moving which is why its so quiet.
This is one of 'those' scenes. Music, effects, the actors it all comes together and just works. Sam Neil is acting like every ten year old who's ever thought dinosaurs were awesome would be: his dream, long lost to time, stands before him in flesh and blood. Its no longer theories extrapolated from bones, its all real.
I remember wen i was little (4 yrs) and my parents and grandparents wud tell me the dinosaurs were robots and i kept telling them " no im sry but they used real dinosaurs for tiz movie not robots"
