@Sukit420 woow nice comeback dude..... what is your beef with jessica anyway . she didnt do anything but serve her country got fucked up for it she is a hero you piece of shit. or maybe i missed something??? explain
@filthyfew77 For the record Ive been to Iraq too. and the majority of soldiers I know dislike her because, the day before her convoy took off instead of diligently cleaning their weapons her platoon spent the night up listening to music and having fun. They didnt perform PMCS on their vehicles either. It sickens me to hear her say "I fought for my country" and when I posted that I was particularly iritated because I was recommended a video with her in it. She is a smashed asshole of a soldier.
@filthyfew77 The small bit of respect i have for her remains in her being a POW and when she says, I was busy fucking off the night before and didnt do pmcs I will be the first to get on the roof and yell I respect Jessica lynch completely. But you are right, I am done with my "post a few word thought. with no explaination."
I agree. I was a Army Combat Medic ( Line Medic ) in the 6th Light Infantry. I swear that 9 out of 10 people (Army or Marine) I talk to where a damn Sniper, Recon Marine, Ranger, SF or a Seal. Nobody ever says, "I was a cook, mechanic or supply clerk". Yet I met thousands of pouges while I was in, now there all Special Operations! Civilans a gullible on military matters and don't know what pouges are or how to spot liars...
busted a guy for breaking into a boat , says I am a marine ,you can't treat me like that , further questioning revealed "colonel" and the familiar " sniper" crap . I did my 4 for the corps so I knew right away but he had convinced so many people to buy him free drinks with that story and for some of them it was hard to admit being duped . Real Marines only tell thie stuff to other real marines , that way when your stories get too incredible they can help you remember what really happened.
@aus012 --- Real pathetic. I was an F-15 crew chief in the 90s, incredible job. And i did meet a lot of types who claimed to be in pilot training, or who declined some pilot training "because i love my job too much" (such as supply, telephone repair). Most pathetic were those who said, "yeah, i was thinking about flight school", as if just by saying so they were smart enough to do it. Some jobs might be kinda drab, but you toss out all your honor when you lie about it
@jhelmsorig - No, Now the Arctic (Light) Infantry Airborne is part of the 172nd Infantry. 6th Light Infantry has been disbanded. I was in 5-9th Manchus which have been absorbed by the 25th Light Infantry and are probable better known now as 4/9th & 5/9th Stryker Brigade in Iraq. They have seen a lot of combat.
@jhelmsorig I am proud of you for admitting to being a clerk and cook. Hell, I recall back in 66 -75 it took 10 plus men to support every one Infantry man. I asked and asked vets in a certain VA program what they did in country( Vietnam ) when I was a volunteer at a VA hospital in 1990. Why did I ask? Well I was placed in the PTS (AKA PTSD) co coordinator's office. Never did I hear so many with so many tales. Yes, I had their DD214's, too. I was not then nor am I now any expert. I did my best.
@aus012- I'm not ragging on Pouges, (Hell, I wound up as a Pouge in a reserve unit in the end). I'm just saying it seem like every fool on a bar-stool or you meet through your job is a Sniper, Seal, Recon etc...Hell some cant talk about it because of their secret missions!
0311, 3/5. Honorably discharged. I AM a former Marine. In my my life after the corps. I've found 1 truth. Assholes that say "once a marine always a marine". Never did the job! They're probably a pencil pusher, or an office bitch! Next they'll say some bullshit like "every marine a riffle man".. BULLSHIT! Anyone who says that is probably ate the fuck up and has no life, or never really did the job as a grunt to begin with... Probably some Motor T, or supply bitch running his mouth again....
0311 Kilo Co. 3 Battalion 5th Marines. 31st MEU, Based out of San Mateo area Camp Pendleton, CA. Just your average Grunt , K co was a helo company when I was in. Don't know what they do know. Fast Roping Repelling all that type shit. M249 Saw Gunner for my fire team. Did almost a year on The Rock, "OKI" Bounced all over the place on a 9 month pump. On LHA 3 USS Belleau Wood. I hear she's now Retired. Why? Sorry about spelling, Tired.
@SicandTwistedNYY The Corps sends it's sharpest men to Army schools. Whether as liasion types or students, these are not average marines. Hell, in 72-73 the Corps sent a Captain to our Infantry Officers Advanced Course. He was just a Marine Corps force recon legend. Clovis C. " Buck" Coffman. Merely a Navy Cross type. Sadly he is deceased. I was honored to know him.
former marine - a marine who served his term and was honorably discharged.
ex-marine - a marine who was discharged for neglagent conduct such as drugs rape (anything bad that destroyed his honor)
although michale makes a point that once a marine always a marine "former marines" are as such above. that said, i dont know much about this book they are talking about. i just wanted to add to michael's comment.
i think everyone in this thread missed the point. The find the character interesting.
