It is a shame that most synth keyboards have cheep plastic keys. For me, having piano keys is a must because I play piano. It is also a shame that most synths are monphonic because chords are a must in 99% of music. Is the Nord Modular G2 pollyphonic?
@numanuma20 The amount of polyphony the G2 can handle depends on the complexity of the patch. In practice, it usually has 4 voices available.
By the way, I play piano too and you shouldn't "expect" a synthesizer to have a piano feel. They're not meant to be pianos :) Also, the plastic keys are not a big deal. Plastic keys actually need less maintenance than wooden piano keys! :)
@Lemure333 Yes. You cannot add/remove modules and add/remove cabling without the software editor. Although you can "perform" without the software editor.
thanks 4 the great explanation! really helped. but ive got a question and was wondering if you could help me out. im about to buy a hardware, and through your explanaition i got to know the G2 which i had never come across and put me in serious doubt. i was going to get me a nord rack 3 before i watched your review, but this one seems to be an amazing equipment as well. would u shad some light on my thoughts ? which of these sinths should work better for electronic music production? thanx mate

ISA215 two channel mic pre + EQ. The real deal, IE: before the acquisition of the Focusrite name and downmarket slide. Absolutely unbelievable sounding.
The Nord Modular G2 is a great synth. It is very flexible and powerful. I'm a little wary of digital systems that rely on a stack of dependencies - the G2 isn't much use if the software doesn't continue to be supported on current systems. That isn't the case now, but just ask original Nord Modular owners who were stranded. The G2 doesn't sound bad, but it does have 'a sound' I prefer the user-directed evolution of a hardware modular and all the limitations that brings.
LOL at the gunshot effect @ 5:09. I had to watch it a few times before i got it. I love the self-deprecating subtitles too. Thanks for the demo. I just got a G2 and this was helpful when i was trying to figure out the capabilities. Thanks!
Yeah i have the fisrt generation modular ...but one of the outputs has died on me ...happens a lot on clavia synths ...which is reallly ashame ...best synth ever ..That's for sure ...so diverse and user friendly
I have played both G2 and first gen Modular, also I have owned a Micro Modular in the past, personally I prefer the sound of the first generation Modular's, I think they have more character and a more gritty sound. I would spend days locked up making sounds on the modular G1, gott'a love Clavia
great instrument, thanks for sharing!

Do you need to use the software editor to work with this synth to it's fullest capabilities? Thanks Stretta

The pitch stick is fantastic, I agree. The reason nobody else does it is because they have it patented.

because the pitch stick is patented by clavia ..that's why other synth manafacturers can't incorporate into their designs

Serious question, does it have "Ahh" voices built in, or does that require additional software to load something like that?
crawfish069 2 years ago
So you seem to be really familiar with it. Why did you sell it - for the money itself or to get a different synthersizer?
