So.....why is it that BMX riders are SO much better now days than they were when I was riding(the early to mid 90's)? I mean people were impressed with can-can airs....and no handers back then! What happened? I dont think the bike technology got any better....Its not like teens started to mutate into real life spidermen, or anything...So WHY?

They were made from the same things as today C.molly steel & (rarely) Alum. & weighed approx 25 #'s with some "freestyle" bikes being just a bit heavier (up to 30)at this time, due to the popularity of double top tubes &/or standing platforms popular for flatland tricks then. Ive looked at the bikes of today, and even had a few friends that Ive ran into who stayed with the sport long after I quit due to health reasons. Ive even took one of the newer bikes on halfpipe for a few minutes (I was too out-a-shape to pull off any tricks, but I could still catch a bit of air) The main difference? Bikes of today are a bit more stripped down W/less gimmicks. Thats 'bout it.

@frankensteinmoneymac because like all trick sports you have to go balls out to learn new trick and when you get to the pro level you have to be better and make new trick combos and people got more into it and then more pros came along and set the level higher

Spinner is under-rated if anything, he may only do whips and spins but he does them soo much better than anyone else- he also does tecnical alex coleborn style (but not as good as alex) and a bit of flatland. coleborn and zack gerber are missing from the dew tour
