A fair comparison would be TWO SUBWOOFERS that have the same ratings. Yes the fosgate will hold more power because you pay for it. But when it comes down to it, the boss will beat just as hard.

@henrylovesweed hey your right they come from the same place alot of times, but that same place builds them with different materials from brand to brand.some with single flat spiders, some with multiple progressive spiders, some with 1.5" voice coils, some with 4" voice coils.some have capton formers, some have aluminum formers.heavier gauge copper is used in the coils of a high end sub as well as more layers of windings.so yes there is alot of difference.

Well it depends on what you want it for. If you are looking for loud and proud deep bass then go for the boss. But if you are looking for quality clean bass the go RF as they make some great sounding car audio stuff.

My freind had 2 boss subs and under powered them for a month then cranked it and blow both up. i would just go with any other brand.

I'd say the boss bigger foam, bigger magnet, etc but I suppose that brand is for budge type systems even Rockford, you can always purchase the lowest line of fosgate subs or just look on CL or ebay.
People will fight you kicking and screaming but ultimately the "junk brands" give you much much more for your money. A $70 Rockford, Kicker etc VS a Boss, Legacy, Pyramid etc for the same money will be a polished turd in comparison.
Obviously the Boss is a much better speaker in every respect. I have some lower end Boss Chaos 15's I scored for 18 bucks a pop with aluminum laminate cones, 80 oz mags 750 watts RMS.
I'm using them in my P.A. cabs & the ONE in my car pounds.

thats not exactly the best way to compare subs. they where built for two different ideas in mind, one is to get loud on a budget and the other is made for sound quality.
@mazda2284 well its really a personal preference. with frequency's below around 250 hz, cone material really wont make much a difference. The thing that really makes a large difference is the rigidity of the cone. the closer to a perfect piston, the better. the stiffer the cone, the less harmonic distortion you get from cone flex. rockfords really are not that bad overpriced? yes crappy? not at all. at least they arnt as bad as jl audio and their subs, but thats a whole other story.

Boss! RF is gay and overrated. Look at the Boss Onyx subs they are rated at 1400 wrms, now I know that its probably a little overrated but for the price of one T2 RF you can get about 5 of the Boss subs.

Although that sub may be old, lets just be honest by saying the subs back then last longer like everything else does. I say he gets the sub that the guy compares to his. I notice that a lot of these cheap subs are loud and can actually do alrite on the termlab but they lack the low end that better quality subs have and the coils don't last long. I know this from experience. Better cooling would help.

@mazda2284 look up the METRIK amp on ebay it is a beast for freal for only 155 dollars it is 1 ohm stable packing around 1600 RMS at 1 ohm not bad if you ask me just alot of people have not heard of it so it will be cheap for a long while to come lol but dont let the secret out lol METRIK 901 MAB when i get my new system done i will post the video waiting on my subs to arrive

@TheClown316 lol it dont give the 1ohm rating because it is not 1ohm stable.i ran a piece of shit power coustik at 1 ohm for a lil while but it fried eventually because it was not 1 ohm stable.as far as the ap3001d, yea it will produce its power,as long as you can keep a high and constant voltage .i guarantee you will not do 3000rms on 1 battery and a stock alternator,with less than 0guage wire.

@gchildxxx1 it ran a 1 ohm load for 5 years and yea i can get 3k of power out of my amp only have 4 1000 cranking amp batterys i maintain 14.4 volts while pounding down. if i turn it off i run 15.2 volts coming soon a 200 amp alternator.

@gchildxxx1 like you said gotta have the volts. people will argure with me about this but i hooked it up to 2 txxapx15 bridged at 1 ohm yea 1 ohm bridged and it give the subs some power after about 3minutes the subs were heated so bad you couldnt touch the magnet nor the cone as it was 160 degrees F

Well it depends on what you want it for. If you are looking for loud and proud deep bass then go for the boss. But if you are looking for quality clean bass the go RF as they make some great sounding car audio stuff.

@crazyhotdog12 no matter what they are rated at , price for price boss makes a way better sub. they may have shitty rating on them but if you know a few things about car audio you can kinda figure what they are gonna handle with out a rating just by looking at it. mine said they were 1100 rms 2200 peak , i know better than that they are more like 350rms and 1200 peak. but still better than the 150rms rockford sub i would have got for the same price.

@mazda2284 Well i had a pioneer 1200 watt 600rms sub Good sub dont get me wrong , but a old school rockford z 12 thats not even close the watts still sounds better and will keep up with it. My freind had 2 boss subs and under powered them for a month then cranked it and blow both up. i would just go with any other brand.

I'd say the boss bigger foam, bigger magnet, etc but I suppose that brand is for budge type systems even Rockford, you can always purchase the lowest line of fosgate subs or just look on CL or ebay.

People will fight you kicking and screaming but ultimately the "junk brands" give you much much more for your money. A $70 Rockford, Kicker etc VS a Boss, Legacy, Pyramid etc for the same money will be a polished turd in comparison.
Obviously the Boss is a much better speaker in every respect. I have some lower end Boss Chaos 15's I scored for 18 bucks a pop with aluminum laminate cones, 80 oz mags 750 watts RMS.
I'm using them in my P.A. cabs & the ONE in my car pounds.

P3's are a joke. i toasted a pair of my friends P3's in less than 3 mins, he was braggin how his new p3's were better than my 2 3000spl's so i had him back his car up to mine unhooked my subs , hooked his up , never changed any setting and 3 mins later his car was full of smoke !!! hooked my subs back up ''not changing anything'' and pounded em for awhile and never got em hot lmao. best buy wasnt happy bout having to replace em

@Bryd3n just check out my videos of 4 of these subs flexing my windshield and they sounded great !!! the sq on these boss surprised the hell out of me. i was also running them on a clean 500/1 JL audio amp, id buy em again for sure , next time ill buy the best subs they make ! they are cheap nuff and the build on these were just solid as hell !

@mazda2284 well its really a personal preference. with frequency's below around 250 hz, cone material really wont make much a difference. The thing that really makes a large difference is the rigidity of the cone. the closer to a perfect piston, the better. the stiffer the cone, the less harmonic distortion you get from cone flex. rockfords really are not that bad overpriced? yes crappy? not at all. at least they arnt as bad as jl audio and their subs, but thats a whole other story.

It doesn't really matter what one is bigger. A 10" Digital Design Sub can outbeat any 15 inch sub you throw at it. Brand has a lot to do with it when it comes to subs. I thought you were going to hook them up and let us listen to it. Anyway i liked the video.

Boss! RF is gay and overrated. Look at the Boss Onyx subs they are rated at 1400 wrms, now I know that its probably a little overrated but for the price of one T2 RF you can get about 5 of the Boss subs.

@mazda2284 but fosgate is WAY better quality.i got boss dash and rear mids and they sucked!one 6x9 blew on half power and the rest sounded like shit.they were in for about 2 months then ripped em out and replaced em with xplods to go with my xplod 10's.much happier.im gonna soon be putting in a full fosgate system...and you do realize that this RF sub is SUPER old school right?they dont even make punch z subs now...so really no comparison.RF was better then than boss is now

ok that RF sub is like 15-20 years old. Your boss Audio is brand new. Although that sub may be old, lets just be honest by saying the subs back then last longer like everything else does. I say he gets the sub that the guy compares to his. I notice that a lot of these cheap subs are loud and can actually do alrite on the termlab but they lack the low end that better quality subs have and the coils don't last long. I know this from experience. Better cooling would help.
