  • Those are some gorgeous snakes and I love how you talk to them like their children its so sweet. I can tell you really love and care about your snakes. :)

  • where can i get a BIG bottle of the stuff used here so i can be ready? Also what is the stuff called?

  • @jims72 Pro-vent-a-mite, from Pro products.

  • Why don't they have water in the boxes all the time? Just curious

  • @Rainbowofcolor88 Iv'e answered this many times. Can somebody answer this for me?

  • @Rainbowofcolor88 Because they use it as toilet, so it's better to give them water directly with a bottl

  • @flokurt Thanks

  • @Rainbowofcolor88 They use water dishes as toilets, Instead of drinking from them.

  • so cute when they drink

  • Mites are almost super natural. The dam things appear out of nowhere.

I share your hatred for the little bastards.

  • YOU NEED A TV SHOW!!! Also, my brand new Banded cali kingsnake just got mites. I feel retarded. Im positive its from the rocks and couple small twigs I tried to sanitize by washing and baking at 200 degrees. Its my first snake, and Im really worried, im pretty much going to have to go to battle later tonight :(

  • @kakabukkake0 yea i've heard of ppl baking sticks & stuff but i prefer to just buy em at the pet shop, just to play it safe

  • wow this is intense You have my utmost respect! and your vipers are beautiful!

  • couple months ago i had my first mite encounter, they came with my red tail, took me 3 days and they were gone

  • lol, your funny viper.I laughed a lot

  • Your snakes are beauties. Shame mites got at them, but seems like they bounced back quite well. Do you only collect venomous breeds?

  • fuckin mites killed my pastel ball python my first snake

  • @MrSnake5678 how did they kill your bp just curious.

  • 3:52 there's a mite...

  • i have a burmese python and a green tree boa not mites so far =]

  • @ElementOne3000 Yes or on your clothes....

  • oh buddy with out a doubt i did (: and i love it i was more curious about the chemicals you used, i much rather yse a laser to kill them to lol

  • hey viperkeeper ive recently got a 2010 ghost ball python and it has "some mites" on it not too many but as its friend I'm curious to what I can do? please reply thank u (: i adore ur collection

  • @kdubb323 Try watching the video....

  • @viperkeeper well, since you didn't actually specify in your video on what mite removal products you used to kill you're mite problem, nor did you give instructions on how to properly use the chemicals. So its king hard to learn how to kill mites by simply "watching the video". This person asked you a simple question and you gave him a half ass, smart ass remark as if he was inferior to you.

  • @XFreedomPrimeX A solid product called HOT SHOT works very well as well as Pro-vent-a-mite.

  • Would you reccomend the Repti-bark as a good snake substrate?

  • @BrianMcGooch Yes, I would say so.

  • that relly has got to be a strait pain in the but when you cant tke em out and wash em like a colubrid or python

  • my albino burmese python always gets these there very ennoying :@ but i do have a sprey that dose the job :)

  • i freaking hate mites

  • I hope this was not already asked, but what kind of mite killer do you use and where would i be likely to get some? I've had no luck with the store bought ones. Thanks.

  • @bullsnakegal Email me @... deadlybeautiful

  • hey viperkeeper i have two boa constrictors who has blood mites what do I need to get rid of the mites

  • Fry they're lil asses!!! Hahahaha

  • my python died from mites 7 days before it's first birthday

  • These vlogs are great mate, love em. :)

  • I guess if you put a couple of these in your living room any burglar would kindly walk right back out the door.

  • 3:16 , is that a pigmy dusky . . also , i know there are some plant sprays that will work for you , made by a company called fox farm , product name is : dont bug me . may want to look into it . used to collect snakes and now grow hydroponic vegtables and have had no luck liek i have with that product .

  • @twistymcslide Vipera renardi

  • im sorry Al, but that "egyptian cobra" is a snouted cobra, do a scale count...

  • @puffadder7 Yes, I know it's N. annulifera...no need to count scales.

  • that male snake eating the mouse scared the living SH** out of me o.O

  • I love her eyes

  • I've been keeping snakes for over 5 years and none of mine have ever had anything like this...

  • have you ever been bitten? if so what was the damage and what snakes bit you!

  • lol nice title!!!

  • New-klee-ER.

  • my snake died from mites =-(

  • lol at the end u had a happy snake but a sad rat

  • hey viperkeeper, why don't start your own animal planet tv show called "The Viper Keeper!" it would be totally awesomesauce

  • uhhh.. its always a good idea to keep snakes in your house becausee...?

  • @YippyYieYo They are not in my house.

  • Really love your snake "speaking" !

  • I saw in one of the comments that you've kept Beaded Lizards. What's your take on those? I am thinking very strongly about getting a pair, but it's very hard finding a "cookbook" about them, do you know where I can find out the general husbandry regarding those?

Keep up the good job! Great vids!

  • oh god the site of those mites gives me chills

  • Hey Viperkeeper, I know how you like to use Repti-Bark by Zoo-Med, I do too as I find theres far less dust in it compared to the hagen/exo-terra crap. Do you know if its possible to get Repti-Bark in bigger quantities than the 24qt bags?

  • In wintertime, we need to remind ourselves to de-plug a cable in our car before driving away. We made a sign for ourselves to put behind the steering wheel in order to get reminded on time. We wrote in big letters "RELAX" on it in english, and in our minds it sounds exactly like you do when talking to your snakes. That is how viperkeeper reaches from his snakes room far away into a Bavarian town close to the Alps 670 meters above sea level. And btw. this video was excellent. Again!

  • I just love the snifflers! They crack me up... :-)

  • hey viperkeeper, how do your snakes in the bins stay hot and get UV?

  • @AwesomeDudes14 there is a heater at the back of the rack

  • Ugh, not good! I can attest that it's difficult enough to cure a grumpy hooded rat of her mites. Had to give her a treatment bath, and she did NOT like it! I can only imagine how fun it must be to clean them out from a hot snake's room.

  • Great Video Al !

  • @LFCjohn1996 Never on them...Tank & bedding/substrate

  • I seem to recall reading that the eggs or baby mites are small enough to get airborne. Is that accurate?

  • Wow, I thought mites were bad on non-venomous, I can't imagine how "fun" it was with HOT snakes!!

  • @Viperkeeper and and Sundanz "kill it with/by fire" Is an internet "meme" that started around 2008, it is an expression used to imply great disgust at something.

  • Have you ever kept gila's or beaded's?

  • @TWExotics yes

  • You used to torture bugs??! Bad Viperkeeper.

  • as always great show!

  • that is such a beautiful green snake !!

glad you got rid of the mites

  • that really sucks

  • mites suck

  • Comment removed

  • can mites hurt humans? and how do the snakes get them?

  • Are there any native North American snake ticks and mites?

  • Vipera - my favourite little vipers

  • I'd laugh if when he said drastic measures he got out a cricket bat and starts hitting them

  • Bug sprays are a nasty thing... Had to put down one of my snakes the other week, she got pretty messed up in the head from the spray..

Unfortunately theres no other options.. Unless you want to take an oil bath with a gaboon viper i wouldnt recommend it.

  • i remember when my geckos had those fuckers.. and let me tell you it was a pain in the ass bathing all of them and cleaning/disinfecting there cages and everything in it everyday

  • @MrPetlover45 ik same here but imagine doin it with a venomous animal lol

  • your comments, i just love them

"nooo i dont like water, i am from the desert!!!!!! .... wow who pissed him off?" xD

    keep it up :)

  • I hate mites. It doesn't help that they hatch eggs so fast.

  • thats why you use sterilization process. Maybe 3to 4 days of it. But i saw that you do that so good job

  • Hope you got all of them little f**kers.. The insularis is so stunning. What could one expect if envenomation would occur by one of those beauties? Thanks for the video.

  • THATS DISGUSTING! I've never seen mites before, luckily for me. I hope I never see them on my snake. I am sorry you and your snake had to go through with that.

  • ill be able to come here when i come back from new york next week.. hopefully ill see you

  • Wow! looks like you were heavily infested! I had mites a while back. I used the Nix treatment. Worked great. Must be a bit more tedious with hots.

  • I love arachnids but mites I don't mind sending off to their doom. X-D

  • The love the communication with the rhino viper. It's like she knew exactly what you were saying, what am I saying, she did!

  • "If you know your animals it's much easier to tend to their needs"... it's random/not-so-random phrases like this that make me respect you even more. ^-^ I loved the conversation you had with the one snake about a possible future boyfriend. It really did seem like she was keeping up with the conversation. :D Love it! Psha, don't get me started on mites. I haven't run into them with snakes so far, but I had an iguana once and we ran into a mite problem after moving her to a huge wooden set up.T_T

  • I hear ya mites are never much fun, for you and surely not for the snake.

  • F***** Mites.

  • I used to have them on my jungle carpet python a few weeks ago thought i got rid of them, but i found one on her today :( but killed it by fire >: )

their woops dont kno what gone wrong

  • @ReidHarris7 what do ya mean "but killed it by fire" ??

  • u made me laugh my ass off when u said "not a personal hand to hand combat kinda thing" thanks lol that made my night

  • thank you i love watching these silly creatures. watched the last 3 in a row because I needed to catch up and enjoyed them. Like i usually say i knoow nothing about snakes but find all your videos so fun. Like being in another world I never knew exsisted. thanx again :)

  • Do snake mites fly?

  • Mites are rough for sure. That sucks. Luckily, I've never had to deal with those in my collection, but I imagine I'll have to one time or another. I see you use ACE, and I saw them also at Tim Cole's house. Before that I'd never seen them. Are they fairly resistant to breakage?

  • Do you use back heat ,or belly heat for your black racks?

  • @ctnpythons Back

  • What did you use to get rid of those mites?

  • @TimmyGal Watch the video again

  • I did. You mentioned bug spray and impalement.

  • @TimmyGal I used a commercial lice spray.

  • @viperkeeper OK, thanks for telling me. :)

  • @viperkeeper i had mites on my boa one time and the best thing was a bath full of lukewarm water and about a quart of olive oil. it did the trick the oil caused them to release and the water drowned them.

  • @viperkeeper I need to get some of that for my corn snake. I was find non moving ones underwater in my cornsnakes water bowl.

  • Seven dust works wonders!

  • Awesome video as always Al!! I always think of mites as the war that never ends. Also love the baby C. Basiliscus!!

  • sity my jcp hade em, but i found one on her today :( but killed it by fire >: )

  • @ReidHarris7 What language is that?

  • @viperkeeper translated: sity his jungle carpet python had mites, he found one on her today but killed it with fire.

  • @viperkeeper and why on earth did they think fire was a good idea??

  • @viperkeeper "My jungle carpet python whom i named Sitty once had a mite infection. I believed it had stopped but i found another mite on her today. I took the mite and burnt it to death."

    haha

  • @viperkeeper shity my jcp had them but i found one onher today but i killed it by fire i think thats what he/she means

  • Getting rid of those little buggers are hard enough as it with non-venomous! I've had to deal with them 3 times now, always in the spring/summer too. New found respect for you, hope everyone is mite free, atleast for a little while. Its inevitable that all snake owners with a large collection will get them at some point.

  • i dislike the situation, but love the information

  • Hate those damn things, got them once through some bad substrate.

  • Oh man. Sorry Al. I've been lucky enough to only have to deal with mites a few times in my collections BUT I've had to help plenty of friends take care of their mite problems.

  • oh man thats never a good sight, good luck getting rid of them!

  • Ive herd they can travel in the dust

  • hey sorry to hear first coment 5*****
