Those are some gorgeous snakes and I love how you talk to them like their children its so sweet. I can tell you really love and care about your snakes. :)
YOU NEED A TV SHOW!!! Also, my brand new Banded cali kingsnake just got mites. I feel retarded. Im positive its from the rocks and couple small twigs I tried to sanitize by washing and baking at 200 degrees. Its my first snake, and Im really worried, im pretty much going to have to go to battle later tonight :(
hey viperkeeper ive recently got a 2010 ghost ball python and it has "some mites" on it not too many but as its friend I'm curious to what I can do? please reply thank u (: i adore ur collection
@viperkeeper well, since you didn't actually specify in your video on what mite removal products you used to kill you're mite problem, nor did you give instructions on how to properly use the chemicals. So its king hard to learn how to kill mites by simply "watching the video". This person asked you a simple question and you gave him a half ass, smart ass remark as if he was inferior to you.
I hope this was not already asked, but what kind of mite killer do you use and where would i be likely to get some? I've had no luck with the store bought ones. Thanks.
3:16 , is that a pigmy dusky . . also , i know there are some plant sprays that will work for you , made by a company called fox farm , product name is : dont bug me . may want to look into it . used to collect snakes and now grow hydroponic vegtables and have had no luck liek i have with that product .
I saw in one of the comments that you've kept Beaded Lizards. What's your take on those? I am thinking very strongly about getting a pair, but it's very hard finding a "cookbook" about them, do you know where I can find out the general husbandry regarding those?
Hey Viperkeeper, I know how you like to use Repti-Bark by Zoo-Med, I do too as I find theres far less dust in it compared to the hagen/exo-terra crap. Do you know if its possible to get Repti-Bark in bigger quantities than the 24qt bags?
In wintertime, we need to remind ourselves to de-plug a cable in our car before driving away. We made a sign for ourselves to put behind the steering wheel in order to get reminded on time. We wrote in big letters "RELAX" on it in english, and in our minds it sounds exactly like you do when talking to your snakes. That is how viperkeeper reaches from his snakes room far away into a Bavarian town close to the Alps 670 meters above sea level. And btw. this video was excellent. Again!
Ugh, not good! I can attest that it's difficult enough to cure a grumpy hooded rat of her mites. Had to give her a treatment bath, and she did NOT like it! I can only imagine how fun it must be to clean them out from a hot snake's room.
@Viperkeeper and and Sundanz "kill it with/by fire" Is an internet "meme" that started around 2008, it is an expression used to imply great disgust at something.
i remember when my geckos had those fuckers.. and let me tell you it was a pain in the ass bathing all of them and cleaning/disinfecting there cages and everything in it everyday
Hope you got all of them little f**kers.. The insularis is so stunning. What could one expect if envenomation would occur by one of those beauties? Thanks for the video.
THATS DISGUSTING! I've never seen mites before, luckily for me. I hope I never see them on my snake. I am sorry you and your snake had to go through with that.
"If you know your animals it's much easier to tend to their needs"... it's random/not-so-random phrases like this that make me respect you even more. ^-^ I loved the conversation you had with the one snake about a possible future boyfriend. It really did seem like she was keeping up with the conversation. :D Love it! Psha, don't get me started on mites. I haven't run into them with snakes so far, but I had an iguana once and we ran into a mite problem after moving her to a huge wooden set up.T_T
thank you i love watching these silly creatures. watched the last 3 in a row because I needed to catch up and enjoyed them. Like i usually say i knoow nothing about snakes but find all your videos so fun. Like being in another world I never knew exsisted. thanx again :)
Mites are rough for sure. That sucks. Luckily, I've never had to deal with those in my collection, but I imagine I'll have to one time or another. I see you use ACE, and I saw them also at Tim Cole's house. Before that I'd never seen them. Are they fairly resistant to breakage?
@viperkeeper i had mites on my boa one time and the best thing was a bath full of lukewarm water and about a quart of olive oil. it did the trick the oil caused them to release and the water drowned them.
@viperkeeper "My jungle carpet python whom i named Sitty once had a mite infection. I believed it had stopped but i found another mite on her today. I took the mite and burnt it to death."
Getting rid of those little buggers are hard enough as it with non-venomous! I've had to deal with them 3 times now, always in the spring/summer too. New found respect for you, hope everyone is mite free, atleast for a little while. Its inevitable that all snake owners with a large collection will get them at some point.
