it's even worse tooltime 9901. they rose when christ died, but so jesus could be the first, they didn't come out until after jesus rose. i guess they paced the tombs in the mean time. as far as the recognizing of them, old prophets or not, there is still the same problem with the story of the transfiguration. the disciples want to put up shelters for moses and elijah. how did they know what moses and elijah looked like? did god announce it from the cloud like he did jesus?!!!!
No tooltime that's not what I'm saying. I'm just logically saying its consistent to say that it might have happened because there are no sources refuting that claim, that's all. I agree with you it is a bold claim, but just as there are no outside sources confirming it there are also no sources refuting it, so you can't say it never happened either.
You assume many things in your analysis. You say there would have been numerous accounts of these saints walking around written in history. Don't you think if this event never happened, that there would be numerous accounts refuting this miraculous claim that matthew stated in his gospel. It is logically consistent to say that no outside accounts verified this therefore it didnt happen, as it is to say there are no outside accounts REFUTING this claim so it must have happened.
Come on guys, did you not watch his videos? We have no good reason to accept supernatural references from a poorly-supported, outdated, non eye-witness based account.
Without said veracity, the book isn't quotable as canon.

I couldn't disagree with you more. All you are saying is that you in your flesh can,t believe the Word. The Bible also predicts the Israel would be regathered in the latter days and be a hated entity in the world. Ezekiel speaks of Russia and Persia (Iran) leading an Arab invasion in that day. I don't think it helps that Jerusalem was destroyed in 70a.d and most of the people with it. You have no hope, little man raising his tiny little fist at Almighty God.i'm guessing you'll die in your sin
Peter recognised Moses when he saw him with Jesus on the mount!..However Moses was not buried in Jerusalem so he would not have been one of the saints spoken of here. As I have stated before, most of the first Christians were Jews. They were convinced of Jesus' messiahship because of these extraordinary events, His death, resurrection and also the earthquake and other saints coming out of the tombs. Christians believe that these saints ascended with Jesus from the mount.
theres one major flaw here. How do we expect people to know what the prophets looked like? It's not liek they have a picture of Moses on the wall to do a quick comparison. The people at that time had no idea, so its not as aparant as you make it out to be. Secondly, verse 54 says that when the centurian and the guards around him SAW ALL THESE THINGS, they were terrified and exclaimed he was the son of God. this shows that those that did notice were terrified.
Matthew apparently recognized them, am someone must have noticed the fact that the tombs were empty. Second, that is just another detail Matthew made up. Romans would not be using Jewish-Christian concepts to reefer to Jesus.
I remember when I first came across that passage. It made me laugh. This is arguably the greatest miracle ever, and not one, NOT ONE other person is even aware of its happening, despite the fact that its supposedly staring them right in the face.
Matthew 27:52-53.....total crap

@BigBake88 so any claim made that you cannot come up with someone else refuting it you simply believe? OK.....

I have heard it interpreted as prophecy. That this is something yet to be. It does stretch the translation to reason this out.

You got to admit these guys would have done well in a creative writing class. Sounds real--walls broke in half and all that.

They should have put that part of the gospels in the Passion of the Christ movie. Great video

@KT45 Except the Passion movie follows the events as they are portrayed in the Gospel of John (and some supposed visions by a Roman Catholic nun) :|
