I have the acer AC700 1090, i would recommend this computer to any one, it runs smoothly for the fact that the hardware fits the software perfectly. Because the hardware specs are very small battery life lasts me almost 7 hours. From time to time i have to go back to my other laptop or two desktops, but at 300$ this computer is a sold buy.

I wouldn't buy something that could only connect to the internet with like 3GB of memory for $600, when, for the same price, I could buy a 130GB Acer Windows 7 laptop and then just download Chrome OS and put it on a partition.
And Haiku runs faster than Chrome OS. But it has low driver support.

Also, before you tell me to get new hardware, I have a QX9650 3.0 GHz Quad Core that's massively overclockable on top of a EVGA NVIDIA 790i Ultra SLI motherboard. Best I can do with my budget, but it's still better than most. So, I'm for Linux.

@karrotop In my experience with Macs, when something like that happens, it's because SOMEONE didn't know what they were doing, which strangely happens more often with people who are suited to Mac. I know a person who couldn't even open Microsoft Office on a Mac. If it weren't for the fact that most of the games and applications I use are on Windows, I'd switch over to a hackintosh. Although if the same were to happen with Linux, I'd for Linux indefinitely.

@rinkavideos64 Not likely at all. With a hybrid OS, you'll need a hybrid kernel, everything will most likely need to be rewritten, which means viruses will have to be rewritten. Although I see where you're going with this. If viruses that are made to put on Windows would go on the Windows portion, Windows would have a virus, without affecting the other systems, making it exceedingly easy to remove them with anitviruses and\or antispyware.
@rinkavideos64 Also, Windows would need to be rewritten for compatibility for merging with other operating systems. If you tried to keep them separate, it'd be one giant SLOW mess. So then the likelihood of getting a virus goes down even more. I know it could all be done, but a project like that even with a really big development team could take several years... @Thycid Yes, but all modern operating systems have sleep/suspend mode. I imagine Chrome OS will have sleep as well. Boot time is still important for laptops/netbooks because sleep still consumes some power.

So with some more power and storage, you host your own web server, and run any application locally.
Your browser is the render engine. So movie edition, graphics, games
then you can run any application under one single concept. I think is smart
is a concept, and we must test each concept before you open your mouth.

Though I prefer my ubuntu 10.10 Mac meerkat. It looks promising. By the way guys. I really don't think this was ever meant to run on the bigger computers/ laptops. Just netbooks. That is why the are boasting the speed. It is really cost effective to make laptops with little hardware inside that still work as well as the big boys.

@TheWMDhacker Dude, are you serious? Really, it bugs me when people look at pc and say: "O_o! It only takes 10 seconds for it to boot!" And they don't care how comfy is the work with it. It takes 30 secs for my i5 PC to boot. And then, it's fast as hell.

@Thycid Yes, but all modern operating systems have sleep/suspend mode. I imagine Chrome OS will have sleep as well. Boot time is still important for laptops/netbooks because sleep still consumes some power.
